Carl Macek Passes Away
You may not recognize the name, but you're likely familiar with his work, especially among anime circles.
Carl Macek has passed away due to a heart attack. Macek is responsible for Robotech, the Americanized re-dubbing and edited version of three different Macross series. It was viewed as almost a show of it's own rather than a dubbed version, and is fondly remembered by many fans who grew up on the show in the 80s. To some, he was beloved for his work on Robotech, while to others he was vilified for the changes made to the NA release.
R.I.P., dude. You're the reason I got into Macross.
