Who's A Big Geek? This Guy!

I am a huge Battle Athletes fan.

Like, insanely huge.

I strive to find any and all merchandise I can, and I have a decent cel collection (although lack of funds keeps it from growing). Although I must admit, compared to some other fans my cels are common. I mean seriously, I didn't even KNOW there was a Battle Athletes music video! And how the hell did they get cels for it?! I eventually found a couple (and cheap!), but by total luck!

*ahem* Anyway. I have a lot of crap for the show. I even have an Akari punching bag that was a promo item for the games. Yet, I never knew about this or this.

I'm a little concerned about their legitimacy. The show never exactly tore up the fan charts, so finding unique merchandise isn't all that easy. Finding a seller that has a unique item for dirt cheap is suspicious. Finding a seller who has said unique item for dirt cheap, plus has at least ten of each... alarms are going off.

But I still don't know. The picture makes it LOOK legit. It has the AIC copyright info (bootlegs usually don't bother), and it has the game logo on the case, so this appears to be a game-related item. I see no signs it's bootleg, plus a look around his site shows he has no other coasters that look like this (usually the bootleggers on eBay use the exact same type of item, but print different shows on it. I would imagine if this guy were doing that, there would be hundreds of these suckers for different shows). His DVDs are legit, but he carries at least one CD that's not (a SonMay).

For $4.00, I figured what the hell... Maybe it's legit and I'll luck out (I just hate inadvertently supporting bootleggers if I can avoid it). I certainly hope so, because as a fan of the show this stuff usually only shows up on Yahoo!Japan.

Still... too early for a geekasm?
