I just have to say I did not realize how much I missed hockey until last night. It is so absolutley wonderful to feel caught up in the game and watch a team of 25 different individuals come together and pick up where we left off.

And yes of course, we lost the game 4-1 and they definitley didn't play up to their potential. (The Rochestor pull-ups were jittery. Most of the line up was the pull-ups actually.) But at the same time, there was such a sense of loyalty these veterans have for their team. And bascially every fan in that buiding went nuts when they introduced the lineup. When they said Jason's name, the noise was completley deafening. I think this game was meant to be a test for the rookies, because the line-up was composed of probably 12-15 rookies and the rest vets. Plus Gaustad, Afinigenov, Mair, Hank the Tank, Connelly, Kotalik, obv. Teppo and MILLER, all didn't play.

It was great to see some of the rookies really stepping it up. Clarke scored! And I'll admit it, I went a little nuts. Stafford was so professional. He is one hundred percent committed to the team too. He fought so hard for chances. This guy Hunter, really took one for the team. Seriously that fight was crazy, really crazy. And Michael Funk, okay bascially he saved the fricken day. Plus he might be the most attractive person ever. Mancari, he was surprisingly good too. Patrick Kaleta, well let's just say he loooves to slam into those boards. I feel like he's not really ready to play on a NHL team yet...

Well I saved the best for last, clearly that fight!!! Okay it would have been good enough if Hunter, Paesch and Lydman were going at it, BUT Peters really made it excellent. He went at this guy for a good five minutes. The refs would pull them apart and the Peters would just tackle him again. The one time he literally dove through the air. And at the end when the dragged him to the box he saluted the arena. People got up and gave him a standing ovation. That was simply perfect.

Overall, it's good that hockey is back, because Buffalo has missed you.
