Well I spoke to bloody soon. Yesterday I received an email from a Theater Company in Berkeley about auditions for their Holiday show. They do this on going series in the style of 1980’s tongue and cheek serial drama’s. With performers acting out montages and being narrators, Very much like you would see on the old Dukes of Hazzard show. Ya know, the show opens up with some actor voice over
“Last week on Money & Run”
Then a bunch of actors come up under different lights and spout off non sequiturs that somehow make sense of said last episode.
Such as
“What do mean it’s not my baby!”
“Look out for that school Bus!” SCREEEEEEEECH. CRASH.
“That’s because he’s not the real Dr. Darby Foxmoney”
“Oh Emma if only the priesthood were as forgiving as you”
“Soon all of Topaz Island will be mine. Mwahahahahahahaha”
You get the idea.
Some friends of mine have been in past shows and they really liked it. Plus its a paying gig. Not much but every bit counts in my world.
Anyhoo.
A year ago a director for this company taped me to audition for one of these shows. At the time I was already in show. I didn’t want to pull double duty with gigs plus work my day job so declined. But yesterday I set an audition time and double checked with Mizz G. to make sure the show didn’t conflict with her graduation party. I’m baking mass amounts of cupcakes for it.
So much for my free time. Of coarse this is assuming I even get the gig to begin with. There is a good chance I may not. In which case I have free time again. Woo Hoo!
We’ll see.
