Asbury Park, June 2004 (Part Three)

Aug 21, 2005 16:58

The three regular Advent Children Play Arts figures are currently on their way from Japan, and the Pom Poko (see previous entry) sub was excellent, with not a tanuki ball missing. Life is good.

I'm tired, Mog may be on the fritz again-- and I can't rely on Apple's Logic Board replacement program any more, that damned earache is back, and all this AC madness is both mentally taxing (spoiler avoidance and alla that) and expensive (the shipping for the DVD box set I have preordered has doubled! @_@). Life sucks.

An aside, related to AC: other than email (and possibly eBay-- gotta start selling again), I'll be offline from the 28th up until whenever I get and watch the English and/or Japanese DVD (hopefully no later than Sept. 17th). Spoilers being one of the very real risks of webmastering the FF7 Citadel, I'm looking to avoid them, especially around the time that the Venice screening takes place. Fortunately, I have a wonderful staff that supports my decision (waves to staff), and I'll be working on a number of things for the site in the meantime. Oh, and of course, I'll get the last set of Asbury Park pictures up before I leave.

Now, as for Part Three, these are shots of the south- and west-facing sides, and some of the interior (!) of the Casino. I got the interior shots by peeking through these mail-slot-type things that are on the doors on the west side. The last time the Casino was in use (a few years ago), it was a skate park; it was closed by the time we first visited Asbury Park, but the skate ramps were still inside the building. As you can see from the interior shots, these ramps have since been cleared out.

Another note about the building: there's a tree growing in the area which used to be, I believe, the ice rink (where the "CA-SI-NO" lettering is). I tried getting a shot of the tree and some of the other foliage growing inside, but the shots came out too dark.

Coming in Part Four: The Palace, Ocean Grove, and Gettin' Nostalgic for Pennsylvania in Hazlet, NJ
