Anime LOL

Wow. I just discovered, thanks to 4chan and my own curiosity, a relatively new anime that has totally blown my mind.

It's called Romeo x Juliet and is a very, VERY clever spin on that classic Shakespearean tale. I've always loved "Romeo and Juliet" -- and this is so incredibly unique and yet still quite true to the play. A lot of people will call it a rip, but frankly, just about any "star-crossed lovers" and "children of feuding houses who fall in love" story out there is a complete rip of "Romeo and Juliet" just with name changes.

The twist on this show is, the Capulet family is nonexistent except for Juliet. So they're not feuding families anymore; rather, Juliet is the threat to the Montague rule.

Also of note is that William Shakespeare himself is a character in this show. He's mostly just a comedic device, portrayed as slightly foppish and rather two-dimensional, but he's so well done (and I love his voice actor, who is also the voice actor of Hatake Kakashi in Naruto)

To give you an idea of how new this anime is, even Naruto: Shippuuden is older. So far only eleven episodes have been released in Japan (with the newest one having come out just today and therefore not fansubbed yet). Also, unlike Naruto, which has a huge, huge fanbase and a long manga history to fall back on, this anime is relatively unknown, so it takes longer for fansubs to come out. But the artwork in it is so... man... I really am at a loss. It has to be one of the most beautiful anime I've ever seen.
