WIP MEME
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, post one sentence/paragraph/whatever from each of your current work(s) in progress. Mention the title if you like, but don't mention anything else.
1) TITLE: "HERE AT THE END OF ALL THINGS" (chapter 5)
He'd purged Hakkaido of the youkai horses that had begun invading quietly in the form of Thoroughbreds. While at a particular stallion farm, Shadai, he met one half-demon, half-horse named Sunday Silence -- the product of a demon-horse and a regular horse. Sunday Silence had proven to be no threat and unfortunately had died of illness shortly after he had determined the animal to be no threat.
2) TITLE: "FIRESIDE CHATS" (chapter 21)
He'd come so close to losing everyone he cared about.
3) TITLE: "UNBRIDLED"
Casting around for the two-headed dragon he'd tamed, Sesshoumaru caught the creature's scent and followed the scent trail to where the creature hunkered miserably just outside the copse of trees. Its left head was wild-eyed and frantic. The right head listed awkwardly. As Sesshoumaru approached the young animal, it caught his scent and lowed petulantly, reminding him of a frightened puppy.
What he saw next astonished him, so much so that his jaw unhinged for a moment.
Aun's right neck was ripped wide open and badly bleeding. The bridle on the right head was mangled and the eyes of the right head were glassy. It was dead. The left head was still alive and panicked.
4)TITLE: "RETURN TO CEPHIRO"
Ascot led them through a dizzying garden maze to a stretch of fields where a number of people were up to their eyebrows in dark brown soil. Ferio looked up as Ascot called to him, and came over in a hurry. He too was covered in dirt, but his amber eyes sparkled in the sunlight.
"Long time no see! How have you three been?"
"Fine," Hikaru said, "but we hear you have been having a time."
"Yeah, we're on the verge of famine. Don't know why the soil's been so fallow lately. Maybe we used too much willpower to make Cephiro beautiful again and neglected the more important, less pretty things. Don't know, can't say. It's been hard the past several years, since you three left."
5) TITLE: "THE PROPHESARIES OF SHULAMITH"
She had been plagued by horrible visions of late. But they didn’t have the air of prophecy; Delian confirmed that much for her. She wasn’t seeing what could be interpreted as The Future; she was seeing images of vastly different worlds, tinged with the aura of distance in space or time. It was more like she was reliving someone else’s distant past, or witnessing an event taking place far, far away.
And those dratted voices!
Sheesh, one would think that if you were going to have to listen to voices talking in your head, at least it would be in a language you’d understand!
6) TITLE: "MESSIAH RISING" (The Chronicles of Oceania, Book Four)
When she arrived, Michael was standing with his back to her, staring up at a gargantuan color map of Oceania and Jamikka.
"My lord, you sent for me?" she said tentatively, deciding formality was safest.
"You don’t have to be formal with me, Juliana," he admonished gently, turning to face her. His face was drawn and deeply troubled.
"I’m sorry, but you did send for me."
7) TITLE: "SATURN RETURN"
She went to the door, flinging it open to see what the heck was the matter with Onyx, and saw to her amazement a beautiful woman standing on her porch.
The woman was taller than Mum, probably Dad's height. She had porcelain skin and intense amethyst colored eyes. She was dressed in what looked at first like a black trench-coat. On her head, she wore what looked like a parody of a french baret, that concealed any hair she had.
