Two things annoy me: the launderette being closed (thus limiting the amount of clean clothes I have left) and also, getting water in your ear when showering. Double grr.
Yesterday was a mission. My task was to finish my essay and the Middle English, mission it to Avenue to hand it in, go to town to
shoot some zombies and buy food, then return and get ready to go out. A busy one!
Last night was good. A fine celebration of Mr Rob's 20th. It's funny, it seems I'm not the only person of my age in this age group. There's actually quite a few, most of whom did gap years. Jon went travelling (including to Bermuda. Impressed!) and Rob did some work with special needs kids. How great is that? He hated it, but the man's a credit to society ;) It was good to talk to people too. Saw Rhys for the first time in ages, and it was great to catch up. And make sure that his indie friends weren't too keen on snaring him, haha. It was also tres amusing to watch one of said indie people watch in awe as I regailed him with tales of watching Frank Turner in shitty bars back in the day. I miss those missions. Haha, at some point, acting on the advice of a barmaid, I wandered downstairs to listen to the DJ. Noticing ads for the upcoming Real Ale and Blues Festival, I asked him if he had any blues, and he promptly responded with Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones (the blues, not the pop). Marvellous... In addition to this, I think I may have sorted something with Jon as far as jamming goes, and I also located a random bassist who claimed he could play Jack Bruce style bass. Hmm. Might be worth following up!
It wasn't all sweetness and light though. I think Lisa needs some people around her at the moment. I think I'm the closest to understanding how she might feel too. Difficult stuff.
After an excruciatingly dull Critical Theory lecture at the Highfield Aircraft Hangar, I thought that going somewhere to make the most of the beautiful weather here would be a good idea. So Ashleigh, Sam and I wandered down to the river, where after having informed a council worker of a drowned and leaking motocross bike in a stream,
we wandered around. I was particularly interested in
the water and particularly amused by a
huge pile of dung that was randomly sitting by the river.
And now to ride out the day chilling out. Score.
