sick and puffy...

So I went to the doctor's today. This is the second time this week that I've not been able to go to work. First it was because my stomach was having problems (well, my stomach and lower intestine, I suppose)... today, I had a puffy eye. I thought it was just a bug bite and it was fine enough yesterday, just a little swollen but when I woke up today and I couldn't see out of one eye because it had swollen shut... uhm, yeah, you get the idea. After many many many eye drops and a nap, I went to the doctor's (after I called out from work). Now I'm able to see well enough and my eye is back to just mostly swollen, unlike this morning when I couldn't drive/see for shit.

Anyway, I got an appointment, went to the doc's and figured that I'd ask about the eye thing and what to do about it: is it a stye? what do I do now? yadda yadda yadda. Well, it ended up being the best doctor visit I've ever had because the male nurse (I don't even remember his name) who took my vitals was kinda cute. We started off with the weighing (I made a joke about how it was my least favourite thing to do), and then went onto blood pressure and then temp. You know, the usual. All through it we were joking and talking and, dare I say it, I think we were flirting! It was sweet. I almost wanted to ask for his number but that would just be weird... but it was nice that some guy I thought was sweet and cute seemed to be flirting back with me.

Well, I walked away without a phone number but I did get a prescription for antibiotics and I'll be hopped up on drugs for the next 7 days. I did, in the process of being sick, get to catch some awesome shows on TV about food... that's right, FOOD! I now have another agenda on my list of places to visit/eat: ChikaLicious

This place is in New York City and it's a dessert bar. It looks SO awesome and fun too! I still want to go to MASA... since I've already been to Nobu and Next Door Nobu... but even after going to Nobu, just tell me this doesn't sound and look good. There's another place I've still yet to go and it's in the same building as MASA as well... Per Se... by Thomas Keller, the same chef who owns French Laundry in Napa Valley (that I ALMOST got a chance to eat at but I was having allergies instead).

Of course, speaking of food, there are tons of places to eat in HK and China as well... and talking to my parents recently has only reminded me of all the good food I'm missing right now!

It's a good way to get over a 'sickness' tho... just thinking of all the food I'll get to have soon if I can just make it through this all...

sick, food
