Is this a joke?

.... I thought my life was going to end, but... I'm alive? This can't be happening. Where is everyone? How in the world did I get here? Also, my bonds are gone. How strange indeed. Another thing, how did I wind up with a strange device like this? I suppose it replaces the use of ink and paper. Very interesting. It could make doing research a little ( Read more... )

It appears Calgara is going to be a little bit indisposed for a moment. It's an unexpected pleasure to speak with you, Montblanc Norland.

Yes, quite unexpected.

You look like you have a chestnut on your head.

...chestnut... chestnut... where've I seen that before?

Do you remember the man who helped us prepare the Going Merry for the trip to Skypiea?

Err, well. I still have my legs apparently, so no.

Maybe you're a ghost who has legs!

A good number of people find themselves suddenly stranded on a deserted island. If you can figure out some identifying feature or some coordinates, that would help immensely, and someone will be sure to pick you up.

Thank you, miss. That should help me a great deal. Say, can you tell me what this place is?

Oh, what am I saying? Forgive my rudeness, I haven't even introduced myself. My name is Montblanc Norland and I come from Lyvneel.

Yes, I guessed that somewhat when Calgara spasmed and threw his laptop.

You should be somewhere on the Grand Line. Beyond that, I have no idea. Generally, though, people have been rescued within a day or so.

My name is Nico Robin. I'm a member of a pirate crew called the Strawhat Pirates, though that won't mean anything to you at the present time.

Are we not on the Grand Line then?
Ah, so you're a pirate. So tell me, Miss Nico Robin, how did you get acquainted with Calgara? And I am going to assume that device he has is the same as what I am carrying here.

A bunch of people were about to die and wind up here. Or did die. It's a little um... weird. You ok?

So I'm not alone then. How strange. Is there some sort of explanation for it?

I don't know, I feel rather odd, like I am not supposed to be here. I swear, I was about to die. I was even tied up. How could this be?

People are working on it. I'm not a scientist and to my knowledge it hasn't been fully explained but people have come here from different worlds and even diffent times and different versions of the same world and also versions of worlds that MIGHT have been but are no longer.

Sounds like you got lucky? Accept the second-chance for what it's worth. My own guess is that perhaps if you believe in destiny, this is a second-chance for a great number of people. Or else a continuation of a previous life to see if they will repeat the same mistakes they once did. Was there something very specific leading up to your... capture?

It seems a lot of these things are almost like magnets. Many people seem to draw others they knew magnetically. Or people who are like them when they previously thought of themselves as alone and one of a kind in that aspect. Perhaps that is a similar situation for you as well?

I see. Different times you say? I've never heard of such a thing to happen, but I suppose it does make sense. Why would I be standing here, completely unharmed, when the last thing I remember was seeing a crowd of people below me... at my execution. Excuse me, this is really hard for me to say....

But thank you. I am willing to accept that this could possibly be fate, or a second chance at life.
