One of the reasons I started listening to NPR in the mornings was that whatever song was on first thing would inevitably get stuck in my head the whole day, and aside from the occasional interview with a Senegalese rapper or whatever, NPR doesn't usually play songs. Today, however, they interviewed a music supervisor (sort of a producer of the music for movies & TV - which, wouldn't that be the best job ever) about some of her favorite movies and TV shows.

This woman liked pretty much all music that I liked - Pretty in Pink soundtrack ("If You Leave") Sexybeast soundtrack (which I hadn't heard before but sounded cool) "Free To Be You and Me" (which I LOVED as a child and actually just repurchased on CD for baby). She also liked one of my FAVORITE musicals which, while it has a number of wonderful songs, also contains The Catchiest Song Ever, which was the first song I heard this morning when I woke up. I'm speaking of "Music Man," and I'm speaking of "Gary, Indiana."

So I'm forcing myself to sing "76 Trombones" and "If You Leave" over and over and over again. I can't let Gary, Indiana get in my head. I just Can't.
