'cause that's just ridiculously odd

I can't think because i have to write an Honors paper and this is the first class in which i'm afraid the paper won't be good. It's stressing me out.

Today i ate breakfast with jackie and sophia and then ran some errands... and pretty much wasted time until dinner, and church, which was really great.

We came back and sophia and i walked to nathan's house with the dog to give him cds i burned but he wasn't there... i still don't know where he is.

I was talking to my friend Steve earlier and he was saying how girls have this 'friend zone' with guys; how if the guys had asked them out a couple of weeks after meeting them, they would've said yes, but if they wait too long, the window closes and they're in the friend zone and the girl's all like..."i only see you as a friend."

I knew this was a problem-- people meet, date, and become friends, when the last two should be switched. But i always thought it was the fault of the guy and the girl. Now i'm seeing that maybe it is more the girl. He said that i wasn't like that, though. His other two problems with girls are that they stay with guys who treat them badly and they listen to their feelings instead of their rational thoughts. I'm guilty of that last one.

The perspective the students in our group had about the event was Christlike. They were hurt, somewhat offended, but mostly brokenhearted. The event was tough on our group. We did not feel welcome on campus. But I learned so much from the Christians at Reed. I learned that true love turns the other cheek, does not take a wrong into account, loves all people regardless of their indifference or hostility. The Christians at Reed seemed to me, well, revolutionary. I realize Christian beliefs are ancient, but I had never seen them applied so directly. The few Christians I met at Reed showed me that Christian spirituality was a reliable faith, both to the intellect and the spirit.

I knew that Laura would fit in with this group. I knew that Laura, no mater how far she was from God, could come to know him.

The story of how my friend Penny came to know God gave me hope for Laura. I was first introduced to Penny at a party on the front lawn, but I thought she was too good looking to talk to, so I sort of slid off into the crowd. Later she showed up at a prayer meeting we had in my friend Iven's room, and I got to know her pretty well. We discovered that we were both ridiculously insecure, and so we became friends. Penny is living proof that Jesus still pursues people. Even Reedies.

Penny had a crazy experience with God while she was studying in France. She gives all the credit to Nadine, another of the very few Christians at Reed, and a member of our little rebel religious outfit.
