Poso - Tentena - Tando Bone
The first 15 km out of town are flat
Then follows a 50 km scenic ascent which brings us to the pretty little lakeside town of Tentena where we’ll take canoes across the lake to Tando Bone

It is a pretty remote place. Even Jakarta--well, you know you ain't in Kansas anymore. There was a lot of violence in Poso in the mid to late 1990s, Annelies referred to it a few times and kind of implied that that was why they'd never had a road built--they didn't want the place to be easily accessible. It's quite a good location strategically, you can see anyone coming from the water on three sides and across the rice fields on the land side. My main worry was medical fu, like if we had an accident or something, how long it would take to get to a clinic. Luckily nothing happened, but I did think about it a lot. However, being in a group (especially with as many experienced travelers as we had) is a lot more comfortable than traveling solo or as a couple.
