My friends and I were wandering around Target's housewares section, checking out the oversized silverware, the George Foreman grills, and the quesedilla makers... who really needs a quesedilla maker anyway?!
But anyhow, we kept on hearing this annoying electronic voice saying, "Stop! Step away from the cookie jar!" We kept on walking, and the sound got closer and closer... We finally came to a shelf stocked with plastic talking/musical cookie jars.
One was shaped like a cop. THAT was the annoying "Stop! Step away from the cookie jar!" culprit.
Another was shaped like a grass hut, and when you opened the lid, it would play the theme from "Gilligan's Island".
Another was shaped like a barn, and when you opened the lid, it played the theme from "Green Acres".
On the very bottom shelf, we found not a cookie jar, but a chip and salsa dish shaped like a sombrero. Get this: when you pushed the button, the cap in the middle opened up and played the "Mexican Hat Dance". It was the stupidest thing I had ever seen.
Imagine a bunch of guys sitting around watching football. During commercial, if one guy wants some salsa with his chips, he'd have to press the button and have the Mexican Hat Dance ringing through the room. Then the hat would close up again and all would be silent and Steve can eat his chip. But Steve wants another one. Here we go again.
