Eeeeee, so worth losing a little sleep!

I love the structure! Puzzles! Puzzles can be such interesting metaphors. I read something once where the child who put a puzzle together left out all the edge pieces so the puzzle wouldn't be closed in and separated from everything else. And people are puzzles with pieces missing- we're not finished yet!

I just love how insecure and confused Rodney is but John is willing to spend the time and effort to reassure him and teach him what love can be like. You wrote the evolution of their relationship so beautifully! I got shivers;)

thank you so much! I've never been good at jigsaw puzzles but I love them anyway, and this just seemed to work. And I've *read* that story--was it dueSouth or something? The child was the daughter, and she left out the edge pieces so she could get into the puzzle--yes, okay, she said after lookng it up. Family Portrait, by Journey, and the girl was Ray's daughter. :D

again, thank you :)

::flails helplessly:: This is incredibly beautiful. I love how much the looking and the seeing and how patient and methodical John is. So beautiful.

::flails a little more:;

Seriously, I wish I were more eloquent at this time of night, but I absolutely adored the puzzle imagery and thought it so appropriate, especially, somehow, for a guy who loves math.

And with John's sometime recklessness, people forget that pilots are some of the most methodical people on earth - they have to be, I mean have you seen the dials on airplanes??? So it would make perfect sense that John would take the slow route to figuring things out.

I do love seeing things from his point of view.

The fic started with the opening line, and it just grew from there. It just made sense to me, the puzzle and putting it together and everything. :) I'm glad it made sense to you too.

because you matter

Oh, oh, yes. I love the structure of this, the slow unfolding, the way John knows when to push and when to back off and just let Rodney come to him.

Lovely, lovely story.

thank you so much. I had the structure in mind when I started it, but the rest kind of developed as I went along. I think it worked *g*

Oh, doG, I should have been in bed half an hour ago, but I just had to check my flist before I went to bed. And I know better than to read your stuff at work :-)

Unlike so many SGA writers, you neither a) make John and Rodney women in gay men's bodies nor b) have them sound out of character. Your voices are spot-on, and I can believe what comes out of their mouths as well as what goes on in their heads. I'm so glad you finished and posted this.

Now, where's your NCIS/SGA crossover, hmmm? Would you do one for a donation to the earthquake relief fund?
