foot update

It's not broken. Yay. The problem is that it is badly sprained, or at least seriously sprained, and sprains in people my age take 4-6 weeks to heal. I have an ever-so-stylish aircast walking boot thing on my foot now, which feels weird but is I think helping, although I can't wear it when I drive and driving is proving to be difficult because of all the flexing required in my right foot.

I'm to wear the boot thing for about ten days and ease out of it and see how I am. If I'm doing a lot better, no need to come back in. If I'm not, time to come back in. The orthopedist said they could do an MRI but since I can't point to a specific injury that did this he doubts an MRI would be all that useful. But it's definitely not broken. Apparently I might be better off if it was; breaks are easier to heal than sprains.

He also suggested I try Aleve instead of ibuprofen, but I don't have any in the house and didn't feel like stopping on the way home. I'll probably grab some tomorrow or something. But he couldn't really give me anything else for the pain because of that pesky pain contract. On the other hand, I am seeing my pain doc tomorrow. Even my monthly meds will help.

Unfortunately this has put a full stop to my laundry hopes because I need to use the bannister going up and downstairs now, so I can't carry the laundry basket. And until we empty a laundry basket I have nowhere to put clean laundry. Maybe I can work on that tonight once Morgan gets home. Or rather, we can work on it.

And yes, I'm supposed to rest it and ice it and stay off it as much as possible. I was thinking of trying to take Buddy out once I got home now that I have this thing but honestly from all the driving my foot hurts and my head hurts and I just kind of want to take a nap. I do have a ton of work-related stuff to deal with though...

(oh, and bonus: Chapter 52 of WC went up last night!)
