I have a Mirena IUD. I think this is my second or third year of it, I don't remember exactly, but I've loved it. I did have a lot of spotting/light flow when I first got it, but that went away after a couple weeks and then I had a blissful two years without a period.
But lately I keep having episodes where I think I'm actually getting my period. The first time I actually thought I was peeing blood, but I wasn't. It feels too heavy to be spotting, but it's not actually flow, either, and it never lasts more than a couple hours, so like I'll put a pad on but it almost turns out to be unnecessary.
I know spotting can happen with IUDs, but I've never had it happen before the last couple weeks and I'm perplexed as to why it's happening now. And I have mild cramps as well, and I'm wondering if this is related to the digestive issues, as my stomach usually gets unhappy when I get my period.
I called my gyn's office and left a message on their nurse line, so we'll see what they say when they get back to me. In the meantime, if any of you know what might be going on, tell me?
(I am 100% certain I'm not pregnant. Trust me on that one.)
Part of me is like "Huh. I wonder if my body's trying to send me a message that it's really ready to get on with this baby stuff." Stranger things have happened, right?
