injection update

Everything went fine today. It honestly wasn't all that different from getting the nerve blocks done, although the sedation was much more effective which I appreciated as I was lying face up and they were sticking needles in my collarbone and throat.

What I should have realized and somehow didn't is that this will take a few days to fully kick in. I had some immediate relief from the anesthetic, but the steroid will take up to three days to really work. So I'm still hurting a bit at the moment (the anesthetic has worn off) but hopefully by Monday I'll be okay.

edited to add: For those who were curious how this works - it doesn't actually fix the slipped disc at all. What the steroid does is hopefully get rid of the inflammation within the nerve so I stop hurting. So there's a chance that it won't work, and there's also a chance it'll stop working and I'll need surgery. But it might help for now.

After we were done, Morgan and I headed to Subway for lunch, came home, ate, and then I faceplanted into bed as the sedation was still kicking my butt. I spent most of the afternoon asleep or mostly asleep due to a combination of factors: 1) skipped my nuvigil this morning; 2) couldn't have anything to eat or drink before procedure so had no caffeine (also why I skipped the nuvigil); 3) sedation from procedure.

I finally woke up for real about 45 min ago and took some Excedrin, so I should be waking up a bit soon.

We did miss our chance to see Morgan's cousins and their kids today, but we'll get together with them on Sunday so that's something at least.

Hoping to get some writing done tonight, as I accomplished essentially nothing yesterday. Wish me luck?
