Grandma L passed away yesterday morning.
We've been sort of not-quite-waiting for this phone call for weeks, and it was still a shock, but not entirely unexpected.
The funeral will be Sunday - Judaism mandates being buried within 24 hours if possible, which in this case it just isn't. I don't know all the stuff going on with regard to transporting Grandma L's body from MD to Chicago and arranging for the funeral and all, but I'm guessing they've worked that out a while ago since this was not an unexpected death. So my MIL told us funeral would be Sunday, so we're flying in on Saturday and out on Monday. My in-laws will be sitting shiva at their house in MD, I'm guessing my aunt will be sitting shiva where she lives. Morgan and I, as far as I know, are not sitting shiva.
Sigh. It's going to be a long weekend.
