You wake up alone, noticing he is not there beside you. Your eyes travel around the room, to the rays of sun softly basking the living room with its warmth and you find him, there, sitting on the couch not so far from the bed, hands clutching a book that looks much like his favourite novel. You wonder if he will notice you, since he has always loved it, reading it whenever he has time to do so. Suddenly you feel foolish, of how you get jealous over an inanimate thing just because it gets his interest.

But then you let out a blinding smile, your heart happy and pleased, as he looks up, sensing you are looking at him.

A too familiar handsome smile greets you, and you cannot help but to smile back, this time even wider as you notice he has already placed an earmark to the page he has read earlier, keeping the novel away to place it on the coffee table beside him. Come here, he says.

He soon has his hand outstretched to take your own, leading you to rest against him, snuggling together on the comfy white couch, just spacious enough for you to feel his heartbeats as he pulls you closer to his chest. Dum, dum, dum, his heart acknowledges you.

Wrapping a secure embrace around you, his fingers move voluntarily to caress your middle, a habit out of affection he has developed just for you, and you sink further into his arms, drowning a deeper more.

Am I disturbing you, you say, a little bit sulky, a lot more of innocence, am I not important than your novel, and he chuckles, feeling his lips to curve onto your nape with warm breaths linger, a mix of coffee and sugar and cream, all too sweet. Much more important, he murmurs, a kiss on your nape and until now those butterflies never fail to obey his command to flutter you. You, much more important, his whisper speaks to you.

You smile, soft, content as you lean more to him, more closer and his voice begins to hum a song that reminds of you and him, and love, and forever, with his fingers now weave with yours together, resting them in a safe hold near where your heart embeds.

It is a while later when you wake up, after you realise you have fallen asleep again, that you find him still there, holding your hands, yet slumbering, his head against your shoulder. Quietly you move him, resting his body comfortably lied down on the couch and his head on your lap. You bite your lips, seeing him stirs, making faces in his sleep, because you are thinking of how adorable he is, of how difficult it is for you not to kiss the pouting lips he makes, afraid he will wake up, because you know he will, and the magical moment may disappear.

So you decide to just run your fingers through the softness his brown locks, cherishing those moments, until your gaze lands on his favourite novel, still there on the coffee table. You stare at it, your lips pursed, still finding it as your rival for his interest.

Taking a quick glance at him, luckily still asleep, your hand reaches for it without a sound, and you beam a triumphant smile, finally you will know what exactly is the thing that interests him so much. You search for the earmark of the page he read before, successfully finding it to flip the page open, and you stare, continue to do so until your eyes start to brim in tears.

You close the novel, putting it back on the coffee table, and you turn back to him, a few tears are shed in the way, feel no need to wipe them.

Leaning closer, you kiss him affectionately, and you are right when you find him looking back a moment after you break the kiss, smiling sleepily at you, his hand holds your own, all too familiar. Hey Su, he says.

Hey back, you reply as you smile, knowing that by now, his favourite novel is your favourite too.

Because there, hidden on that page, is a Polaroid photo of you and him, holding hands, looking at each other, so in love.
