So I find out through a trusted pal that -- you remember the woman I felt was biased and thought more highly of appearance than teaching ability? Yeah, so apparently she "had a fit" about the mohawk. And, apparently, that is the reason why I have not been called back to teach. So I wasted the money on the professional wardrobe. So all this

You know what? you're right - she is a shallow, hollow person who clearly couldn't see talent when it sat down in front of her.
But trying to rub it in her face and make her say it to your face won't win you any friends, popularity contests, or beauty pageants.
As much as it's Not Satisfying to take the high road, I think you should stick to it. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to bitch-slap someone or just go off on them because of something gone wrong or not the way it should - but staying on the high road has been paying off in spades lately.
Just a few cents to pick up off the ground if you want.

I'm giving the "benefit" of doubting that she thinks I've actually done anything to modify myself into a more professional aesthetic.

I can understand wanting to show them how much you've changed for them. I'm still hesitant about it (prolly cuz we haven't talked about it) ... it's one thing if they said "we have this dress code we need you to meet. Let's revisit this in a month" ... but they didn't. Do you really want to work for someone where you think they're constantly looking over your shoulder so to speak?
(don't get me wrong - I think the teaching is a great thing for you.)

Here is why:
1. This woman set (albeit rudely) an objective for Ashley - conform to her idea of "professional"
2. She has no idea whether Ashley took that seriously, which Ashley did.
When Ashley goes in it will simply to demonstrate her enthusiasm for the position - this woman probably expects that Ash is a lazy, counter-culture loser and would refuse to change.
Really, Ash has nothing to lose and everything to gain here. If the woman sees Ash's dedication and professionalism (requesting a second interview to demonstrate as such) she might start getting ubsitute offers.
Although Ash is really angry- her intentions are good.

She also did not set a deadline to revisit the request.
As long as she's not getting up in everyone's face, I'm sure it will go fine. But I question holding on to this when there may be further issues down the line - the uncertainty of whether she's meeting their expectations because they aren't clearly explained and followed-up.
I do think the teaching is an awesome thing for Ash - I'm just not sure.
I'm also in Denver and very far removed from this whole conversation.
