From Russia with love

I finally have the soundtrack to the Russian adaption of Sherlock Holmes (with Vitaly Solomin).  The score is by Vladimir Dashkevich. (Владимир Дашкевич)
It’s really a wonderful soundtrack, and interesting to listen to. (You can hear a lot of Russian elements in the score)
I have made a small "video" of my favorite pieces as a sample.

a piece from Dashkevich's interview alek_morse January 21 2011, 00:47:59 UTC
Hello from Russia :)

yes, Vladimir Dashkevich is a great composer for me and not only for me.

btw, a couple years ago I have translated some pieces of Dashkevich's radio interview from Russian into English. Here you can read them -- below, after the Russian text:

http://alek-morse.livejournal.com/20303.html

a bit fragment from it:

Vladimir Dashkevich says:

"A composer is like a salmon. When a salmon is spawning, it swims 30.000 km in the point, where it was born. Nobody knows how it has found the point, but a salmon can crawl in belly, obliged to be there. So a way, a salmon fulfils own debt for God. An Artist is the same phenomenon. He can’t say like “I will to do that it…”

...…Cinematograph saved the music of XX century, - because with Cinematograph, the composers could talk with own audience - with wide street audience - and with the middle class, which, by the way, demolished Bastille. But then, for the sake of that middle class do not demolish Bastille, the people began to get the fast-food - the people grew fat watching TV, lay down on sofa and stopped to resist. It is THE popsa.

...Actually, what we must to understand - there was a middle class that realized French Revolution. And it was done under Mozart’s music. If you hear Figaro’s aria, and then you hear de Lisle’s “La Marseillaise” - you will reveal that “Marseillaise” was composed by Mozart much more before. With this music, Bastille was demolished. But THEY don’t want to their “Bastille” was demolished… It’s simple."
