I was reading the bible last night before bed and I came across some interesting things. For example, I was reading Leviticus where the Lord is giving Moses laws for the slaves he'd led out of Egypt to live by. In that, they condemened homosexuality. This is an argument that many Christians use to say that gay ppl are sinning against God. Well, guess what? Among the laws that the Lord listed, he also listed a bunch of strange stuff that no one does anymore. Like, you can sacrifice meat but you can't eat it after the third day. If you do, God will turn his back on you and you'll be cast out of the society and/or killed. Another thing he condemned was breeding different animals together. Hellooo? How did we get purebred dogs? There's a lot of stuff in there saying that people who committ adultry need to be killed. Well, Christians don't exactly do that, anymore, do they?
Yeah. So this just goes to prove that in this instance, we don't follow all the laws that the Lord set out for Moses and his people. They must have been set up at a time when it would help Moses.
On the other side of things, God condemns incest and beasteality, something that Christians have chose to incorperate into their laws....yet they disregard these other things.
Christians are always arguing that homosexuals are simply ignoring the parts of the bible they don't like. Well, Christians do it to. I believe that the bible is a guide to life to be studied and evaluated, but I don't think that every little commandment that was given to ancient people in specific circumstances should be applied to our lives today.
