I need some help as I am running out of ideas.

I need to find a place to live in town but have specific requirements:

1. child friendly and kids live nearby
2. liberal and cultural (no cross-burning areas like the one in the 'Burgh I grew up in)
3. not $$$$$ expensive (not too far into triple digits)
4. relatively safe (no shootings in my backyard like 4-5

well, you know my answer, but it might be too expensive. (still, keep watching the listings.) have you tried the pittsburgh community? talked to a real estate agent?

I just got set up with a different realtor. The first one required that I sign a contract with him before showing me any houses. I dropped him.

BUT...

I am finding wonderful, renovated Victorian homes but in questionable areas.

Know anything about Observatory Hill? Not as close as I would like but has beautiful houses.

yeah, riverside park is awesome beyond words in the fall. i actually worked over there at madmikeicus's house for a while before we got our office set up downtown. there's a school right there so i know there are kids around, but i think it's just an average pgh neighborhood when it comes to crime, culture, etc. the drive from there to downtown isn't bad, though, and it's really close to mcknight road.

that house looks nice. one HUGE thing to keep in mind with observatory hill is that it's right on the edge of pittsburgh for tax purposes. it looks like that one is on the outside judging by the dirt cheap taxes.

i have no idea if riverside is safe. it's safe for me! but i am a ninja.

and no, i work for sonicfoundry. there are only a few of us in pittsburgh and they were in the middle of moving when i signed on.
