Allow me to exclaim a "WTF?" I was sure that I'd posted an update since i moved...
Not that there's much to report. We're pretty much settled in by now, and Tina is looking for a job. She's down at her parents since Thursday, for her mothers birthday, and is coming home Sunday. So I've been home alone for the first time since we moved in.
I've been trying to get into Ruby on Rails, but are having a difficult time. In the screencasts they make it look so easy to wipe up some Ajax backed pages in no time, but I find it takes a lot longer for a newbie like me.. The time I've spend making this small test page, I could have done it faster from the ground up in PHP and JavaScript libs, than using the Rails helpers. I hope it's just a steep learning curve that flattens out, but I don't really dig it yet. And I really want to, I like Ruby, but there's just so much in Rails, that it's hard to get a grip on.
At work I've spent time on doing XML and XSL in PHP.. XSL does have some cool factor. I've seen my fair bit of template engines, but XSL is somewhat cool. The way you can pick out parts of the XML and stick exactly what you want where is pretty neat. Even if namespaces is a bitch.
