Tech drool

I want a Lemur!

Ever since I got my Triton and realy started to understand the amazing things you can do I've drooled over high tech controllors. But, the Lemur blows everything I've seen before out of the water. Where older devices use knobs and sliders to send midi data, the Lemur lets you create any type of control scheme you can immagine. Here's a video that shows the Lemur opperating as a sequencer/instrument (it's towards the very end of the clip). If only I had a spare 2 and a half grand lying around I'd buy one right now!

I found this amazing device when I was browsing the site that makes Jitter, a piece of software I'm drooling over for my video art. Here's a clip of what one guy used Jitter to do. Jitter is like a synth building kit (creating patches of filters etc and connecting them) for video. And since it's part of Max/MSP you can fully integrate audio into your work.

I'm invisioning using this geometric structure I've been working with as a multimedia controller/synth/video mixer. The rate it spins at sets your bpm the nodes trigger notes when they pass a certain point and the relation of the nodes to each other affects other paramaters. So by changing the axis the object is spinning on and transforming the shape into different permutations you can creat a wide variety of soundscapes. Then the sound being created will affect how the video elements are created. Now all I need is some cash and an assload of time to learn how to use Max/MSP and Jitter.

Okay that's enough tech drooling for now
