One of my favorite writers, Tony Hillerman, has passed away at the age of 83.
"Skinwalkers," "Talking God," "Coyote Waits"...they're all fantastic. Great stories with an incredible sense of place. He really infused his stories with his love of the US Southwest and respect for the Navajo. I haven't yet read his nonfiction book "Seldom Disappointed" but will.
The books have a life of their own, but if you want to see good film versions, the versions of Skinwalkers and Coyote Waits, produced by Robert Redford for PBS and featuring Adam Beach as Jim Chee are excellent.
