Mucinex rules!

I have never taken Mucinex before, but for the past week I have been stuffed to the rafters. I went through two cubes of Kleenex, plus most of one oblong box (though I had help with that one) and I was getting desperate because I have a voiceover gig today and am trying to eliminate as much of the congestion as possible. Mom saves the day and brings over the Mucinex. I took two yesterday and it made a HUGE difference. I was running like a faucet or anything but I still felt much clearer than I had in days. I took two more this morning and am hoping that frees up my sinuses enough so I sound competent on the recording. If it sounds too "iffy" I'll schedule a revoice for Thursday or Friday.

I dawdled a bit this morning...I was really wiped out yesterday and then had a migraine kick in late morning/early afternoon. These are weird migraines. They are not the "I can't stand the pain - shoot me now" kinds. I've had those. The migraine (and I'm assuming it's a migraine because it happens when the hormones go haywire once a month) made coherent communication nearly impossible. It's like being excessively tired - as in, haven't slept for two days. It's like taking too many Benadryl -- fuzzy around the edges and talking is a chore. These weird migraines involve some kind of internal problem that disrupts my ability to talk. They are infrequent and have varying degrees of severity. Someone can ask me a question, and I hear them talking but there's "lag time" between end of sentence and comprehension. Then, the answer forms in my head, but I get half way through my reply verbally and the answer goes "pfft!" I forgot what I was going to say. Now, this happens once in a while to people, I'm sure, but spending MOST OF A DAY THIS WAY?? By yesterday evening, I was better, but it's disconcerting to say the least, because there's no warning. Some migraines have visual disturbances or the pain creeps up on you and you just KNOW it's a migraine. I don't realize there's a problem until I try to speak.

All I can do is lay low and ride it out.

However, because I can't speak well, I sure got to focus on writing yesterday! I have some news releases to do, and some materials to start putting together for the genealogy workshop I'm doing next week. Going to be busy for a couple months here....

stuff, health, writing
