Christmastime is here...

Sitting here enjoying the relative peace and quiet...except for the Eldest Child sitting impatiently on the sofa, waiting for her Saturday morning cartoons which start at 8....she was going to turn on the TV right when she got up at 7:15 and I said, "Whoa, sister! Mom's listening to music right now and the Celtic Women would rather not compete with the TV."

Little does she know she's going to karate this morning anyway....insert evil scientist laugh here....

The exercise is a good idea...the disengaging from the sofa is a good idea...and I need to take her for shoes anyway. I'll be a sweaty mess, no doubt, but maybe it will clear out sections of the store for me and make things go more quickly. I've just been trying for WEEKS to get her over to the Land's End shop for shoes and/or boots and since she'll be stuck with me anyway, today's as good a day as any. I might go browse for something for DH as well.

Still have a lot of Christmas shopping to do. Mom, Mom-in-Law, and Dad-in-Law are pretty well done. They are all getting copies of the portraits we've had taken recently...some of the whole family, others individuals of the girls...just need to get some frames. My original game plan was ornaments....everyone was getting one. Not little $2 jobbers but some pretty handpainted ones. Even if I went with ornaments bordering on artwork, I would still probably spend less than if I had lists from everyone (my brother asked for John Mayer tickets, for cryin' out loud!). And I know I like receiving holiday decorations as gifts...they are things that I usually don't think to buy for myself but that would get use and appreciation every year.

BUT...true to holiday form...my gameplan, so carefully developed before Thanksgiving, was shot by December 4th. :-/

Soooo...I sat at the table last night and revised the lists...still within budget constraints so that's good.

Oh, nuts....karate in less than an hour...gotta jet! Next week at this time....black belt test.
