The New, Improved Character Survey of Doom [Fuuma/Kamui]

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Holy crap uh... he's very, very tall. As in basketball-player tall (6'10", more or less). Not too skinny like some tall guys, but not too muscled either-- lanky, but with grace. He's got a good balance on them, mostly on his chest and shoulders because have you even seen them lately. He's got broad shoulders and a nice chest and abs, mmm. Most of his bulk go there, but most of his height go into his legs. A friend once mentioned that he seems to be all leg, and he's right. He's got himself some damn pretty legs and hips and ass attached to them.

2. How old is he?
17 physically-- turning 18 next week because hurr headcanon. But his existence as "Kamui" is only a year old.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He tends to slouch sometimes, but when he walks, his back is straight.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
His body wont let him get ill (except in the head), and if something does change in his weight, it's because he doesn't get enough food as he should. This happened in Discedo/ATBF-verse, but definitely not happening in Solace and MH. But his health remains in the best condition possible, built up with years of being an athlete, then simply cemented into place with his regenerative abilities and crazy muscle power.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He's a cat. You'll never hear him coming unless you're just that good.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Shit he's hot. Shit he's so hot he has a harem of canon/CLAMPmates, RP characters and RL people alike who are ready to drop their pants at his bidding-- even yours truly. He's got this boy-next-door/jock mix type of charm, and girls in his old school even called him "cool"-- and that was when he was still "Fuuma". When he became "Kamui" he started piling up on the sexy that he's turned into sex incarnate.

Bonus: Look at him in just the right light, and you'll see he's that subtle kind of trap. You'll never see it coming until it slaps you in the ass and says "what's up?"

He knows he's attractive-- he'd be blind and just plain stupid if he didn't have even a bit of idea. And he dresses accordingly. He can be a narcissist when he feels like it.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
He's got the kind of skin Asians have, plus a possibly perpetual tan from staying under the sun too much. Asians are pretty much "yellow", but when they tan, they go brown, not reddish like a bad rash, and that's the kind of skin "Kamui" has.

He has one scar, and one scar only. Headcanon says it's from the time Kamui tried to kill him by running his hand through his heart, but he missed it by a few inches, so it left a scar just below his collarbone. Since the hand went through-and-through (as indicated by the blood spatter on that panel), it's easy to say that it's on his back too.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
It's pretty dark, actually. Black, but CLAMP likes to color his highlights as blue-grey compared to Kamui's obviously brown hair. It was pretty freaking messy before, but when he awakened, he's managed to tame it a little, and actually make it nice to touch, because no way would I have even tried touching it when he was still "Fuuma".

9. What color are his eyes?
Gold. Just... plain gold that it's so unnatural. And makes him look like a cat, especially during those times that his pupils slit.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
What do you think he has?

11. What are his chief tension centers?
Neck, shoulders, lower back, and calves, the same points you'd see on basketball players and other athletes.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He prefers those warm and neutral colors when it comes to choosing, but his coats are usually dark blue, brown, black and one was even black and white. When it comes to casual stuff without the coats, he prefers shirts and maybe a jacket. Denim jeans all the way, baby. And since Chucks just wont do, he goes for sneakers.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Those clothes of his are actually part of the reason why he looks like the sex right now. And he wouldn't have chosen them if they look and feel like shit.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Uh... if by "job" you mean "destroying kekkai and trolling the DoH", yes. He dresses as he pleases.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
... :} Guess.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Oh unf. As a being voiced by Suwabe Junichi, his voice is deep, but not in the scary kind of way. It's very, very sexy-- just on this side of bedroom. You could fall asleep listening to it. And when he whispers to Kamui, I just alkjdgsdfhsd;fghapf /melts

But when he starts getting serious, his voice gets a little louder and rougher, and almost resembles Grimmjow's Japanese voice when he's relaxed.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Soft, most of the time. Like a purr, to be honest. Words just come so easily for him, and he has no problem relaying them.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
If he speaks in English, obviously there's an accent. He stumbles over the "l"'s and tends to emphasize the wrong syllables. And since the "n" is a separate syllable to the Japanese, he can mess up with that one too. But when speaking in Japanese, he speaks in the Tokyo dialect.

In Discedo/ATBF, I couldn't play out the language barrier well, aside from using text functions when talking to people of other countries and stuff, Solace grants instant translation via collars and in MH I assume his guide just helps him out there/Thor is special like that, but in WR, if he gets in, hopefully I can play out him getting over his little language problem the way I've always wanted to.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese, being his native language, and thanks to school, decent enough English.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Uhh... never happened. Yet.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He doesn't need to think about it ladsfaldkgjlfg He says what he knows and it just comes easily to him. But there are times he needs to stop and collect himself for literally a second if a statement gets to him in a psychological manner.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Very, very eloquent, and he'd rather keep it that way. He hardly swears, but when he does, it's very deliberate, because he uses those words to accentuate his statement, thus fulfilling a trope known as the Precision F Strike.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Oh my fucking god I... don't even think his intelligence can be contained in just two categories. He's smart in school, yes, because he's just a sponge there, learning and absorbing things, and he's smart on the street because he knows every nook and cranny on Tokyo-- because he has to. Part of destroying those kekkai, see. But there's this kind of knowledge that hasn't been touched on by these two. You can call it a mix of the two but somehow it still doesn't fit.

He has otherworldly knowledge, the kind which people say only the "enlightened" can only get. And perhaps even more. His awakening may have tweaked something in his brain, or he's learned it by sitting his ass down and learning what he can, but still, that part of his intelligence is something even I'm having trouble understanding, and to think I've been playing him for over a year.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He's mostly the impulsive kind of person, namely because the outcomes always happen as he predicts them. But there are times that he does plan, such as which kekkai he should take out next. And if he should bring someone else or not. And of course, which restaurant to visit with Seishirou before wrecking its district.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
All that, and everything in between. And even more. He maintains an open mind about things, even though he may seem to be stupid or annoying or biased, and thinks about every single possibility. And sometimes, he simply lets it come to him, because he knows that the more you strain for it, the more it'll stay away from you.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
"Fuuma" stopped studying after his father died, more or less. I doubt he managed to make it official, because that's when shit started happening left and right. He was on his last year in high school then, and would have graduated if his life had a semblance of normalcy. No idea what he would have taken in college though.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
People. Every single thing about the human being, their thought process, their values, their motives, their biology, the psychology of humans... Canon simply revolves around the humans and their many layers.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
He breaks this system. Just simply... breaks it. You may think he's an introvert because of the way he interacts with people, but then again, he can be so friendly that he can also seem to be an extrovert.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
All. He has mood swings but they're manageable in the way that he can control himself during them. Usually outside forces prompt these changes, like mentioning Kamui or their destiny. He's usually lazy, but he knows when to get his ass off and work, because his main driving force is right there, and present all the time. He just knows when he can slack off, because in his own way, he knows how everything will end, and when. After all, he appeared battle-ready right when Kamui released his own Shinken-- that means he knows the exact date of the Final Battle.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He's mostly relaxed on the outside, but on the inside he's very pissed off-- mostly when it's something extreme, such as his intro into new places or something that pokes at his ego. He'll gradually sink into the thought that it's just another detour, and take everything else that comes in stride.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Both, depending on the situation.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
He fights, in his own way, but usually he sees it coming and keeps himself out of trouble.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Satire is more his thing, when he's the one making humor. He cracks things that are hilarious in hindsight, but he's not going to frown at the usual funny things.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

I don't even know. There are so many things wrong with him, people notice it and even wonder just what's up with him, and yet they're not his own. Nevertheless he deals with them in the way that he doesn't deal with them. He lets them be, because they're all part of who he is.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His awakening first and foremost. It's what basically formed him into the person he is. And less noticeable but just as significant is "Kamui"'s first manifestation within "Fuuma" long, long ago when Saya birthed the Shinken. Saya's death is what set things in motion not only for him but for everyone else, because that's what prompted Tooru to take Kamui and leave Tokyo, only to send him back six years later to get the show started.

14. What does he fear?
Failure. Well, more wary of it, but he doesn't like failing all the same.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
As "Fuuma", he simply wanted his father to live a long life, and his sister to be happy. And we know how that turned out. "Kamui" on the other hand wants Kamui to realize his true wish, and less importantly, to grant his own wish.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He's not his own person. He's a puppet. Just some guy, without question, following what's assigned to him, why he's been born in the first place. And that he's still Fuuma in there somewhere.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
"Fuuma" loved his parents very, very much. When Saya died, he assumed the role of keeping the family together because Kyougo simply didn't know how to, being a priest. Kotori tried helping, but in the end "Fuuma" shouldered most of the work.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Kotori. You'd never see siblings with the same kind of connection that these two had. He knows her better than anyone else, she knows him better than anyone else.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
There are no other relatives, as far as canon shows.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Nataku first and foremost. As per his wish, "Kamui" took him in as his adopted child, and overtime the two grew close to each other, like a real father-child tandem.

There's also Seishirou, whom he liked as some kind of role model and older brother, and he kind of grumped about recruiting Subaru to take his place because Subaru is such a killjoy.

And then there's Roxas in Solace. He hardly ever sees him, and they usually talk over the journals, but whenever they do, some of that old affection he had for Nataku kept on coming up. He reminds him of both Nataku and himself, and so he likes the kid almost like another son.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Riku, Discedo-verse. It's funny how they met, because Riku was raging back then but they still talked to each other. They had the best conversations, and hands down, "Kamui" opened up easier to him than to anyone else, so imagine his disappointment in the Riku in ATBF, because he didn't know him, and he didn't bother going near him, because it just wasn't be the same.

6. Does he have other close friends?
They're more of acquaintances than friends. He's not quick to call people his friend, simply because, in the end, it's difficult to find people whom you can trust.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
See above.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Neither. As he's recently explained to Riku in an MH meme, things change, and some connections just cant stay strong forever. Plus, while "Fuuma" had family, "Kamui" has no family to speak of, and the small one he'd managed to have is gone now.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Very much single and available. Long ago, in Discedo/ATBF, he was with Kamui. Currently, in musebox shenanigans he's living with Squalleon.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
In the musebox, he's with Leon. It's not exactly "romantic", but I'm tacking a big "yet" here.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Aha. Ahahaha fuck. He wasn't a match for Yuuko back in Discedo. He liked her brains, her personality, her experience and simply everything, and he was drawn to her the same way birds of a feather are drawn to each other. And he's enough of a teenager to call it a crush.

Currently in Solace... no one. No one at all. They're mostly kids, which means more of his fatherly tendencies come out more than not.

Meanwhile in MH, he's not interested in anyone just yet. He likes Fai, but... birds of a feather, and it's not exactly at crush-mode. There's also Kurt, but eh, same thing. And then there's Riku, who's troll-bait. Zexion counts as troll-bait sometimes, but he just likes their discussions.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He's attracted to pure souls-- the selfless kind of person, beautiful deep down inside. Don't forget, he can see their wishes, and can tell what kind of personality they have. He's drawn to selfless wishes, pure demands and simply people of that kind who know that the world they move in is a rotten place sometimes or maybe even all the time, but they just refuse to change to survive easier, because to him, they're quite rare.

And no, children don't count. He's not a pedo, goddamn it, and pedophilia is one of his squicks. He'd rather murder someone with a gaze for simply suggesting it-- he'd never dare destroy children like that. He's actually into older, mature people, because finding pure souls among them is the real challenge. Children are pure by default, but as they grow, they change. That's his opinion.

On other things, he'd rather have them be wise. Common sense never hurts anyone, and he'd rather have that than someone who can recite the table of elements. But if someone has both, then that would be a very big plus.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Two adopted kids, Nataku, and Solace-verse Roxas. He'd really like more kids but he'd rather adopt than make them himself. And I'm of the opinion that he should never, ever breed.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
I wouldn't call the DoH enemies, just rivals. And currently, Envy in MH seems to have tacked a target on his forehead. "Kamui" just doesn't mind the idiot, and would sooner fall asleep than talk to him more.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
He's a 3, although he seems to end up with more men than women. But to tell the truth, he breaks this scale, because gender is irrelevant.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He's a teenager. It looks like a big adventure to him, something new and exciting, but still far away on the horizon. He wants to try it, but at the same time, he doesn't want to try it, because then, it might not seem so magical anymore, and he's very well aware that it strips him (fuck you, puns) of his enigmatic front and his strangeness, and makes him human for the period, and he's a bit wary of this.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Hnnnnng he's a kinky boy. Blood is no big deal for him-- he practically licked it off Kamui's neck and face. He'll be willing to try a whole lot of things out, but he shares squicks with the majority, because they're just gross. Just... just bleh. He'll more likely than not walk right out with all his clothes on and no sign at all that he had a tent in his pants just a minute ago.

He'll like being dominant most of the time, but that doesn't mean he wont like being topped on occasion. The fact that it's happening at a moment he's not expecting aggression from his partner makes reality a lot hotter. But he wont go down without a fight, because he likes a good struggle here and there. And he likes touching. Yes he does, because he's that kind of person. It just feels good, even in the non-sexual kind of way, so you can expect him to be a big cuddler. And he'll most definitely like his partner making pretty noises in the bedroom. Or bathroom. Or where they do it. He's not picky about that, as long as it's clean and wont break easily.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
I simply use headcanon for this, but he's a Gemini, which fits him quite well, considering he's simply one half of a person. Kamui is also a Gemini too, because they're born under the same star, and they're most likely close to each others' birthdays.

For something a little closer to home, he's a Dog, and he actually fits it quite well, because he is a natural leader, and is very loyal to those who gain his trust. Dogs are also known to seek out their soulmates, and that's what "Kamui" does, albeit in his own way. That doesn't mean he loves Kamui in that way, it's just that they're attached to each other more than other people can. This, combined with Gemini, can show you he's the kind of guy who likes to prod and poke at every little thing for information and more information, and he can be moody when he wants to be. Surprisingly, these two signs get along well.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Being raised in a temple doesn't mean you'd pick up everything there is about being a priest or a priestess, especially when someone hit your reset button and gives you a whole new personality to fight those old memories. He's more of a spiritual person than religious, but he knows that there are beings out there calling the shots, and he has a healthy respect for them.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

He does, but it's simply something that only he knows.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He'll be so curious you have no idea. He'll ask and ask until he's satisfied, and then he'll respect it, because people believe in what they choose.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He hardly allows himself to think like this, and so when he does get these kinds of thoughts, he has very good reasons, and usually he'll think it over before deciding if he needs them to burden him or he can simply let them stay and give him caution. But as much as possible, no, he wants to keep an open mind about things.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Currently in MH, he's not comfortable just yet. He's earning money, but he still cant get more than the basic needs, because... let's face it, he's a big kid. Meanwhile, in Solace, he's pretty okay, and there's no problem for him here. So far.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He's basically that weird but nice kid who wears sunglasses all the damn time. It's hard to say where he actually stands, because each person thinks of him differently. I'd rather leave it up to the other party to determine where exactly he stands.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
In Solace, he's in the Avatican army barracks. It's okay for him, but sometimes it can be unbearable when people start making noise.

MH is basically a ship, and he's in a small room within a slightly larger common room with four other people. He wants to move to another room because there's just enough space for a bed and a few other small things in his current one, but that would mean bigger rent to pay, and he'd like a little more savings before he makes that move.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Candyyyyyy. And ice cream, if he can afford it. He doesn't have any vices, which is a good thing, so he simply indulges in simple pleasures like sweets.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
A turncoat in Solace, and an apprentice of sorts in MH. He doesn't particularly enjoy his jobs, but he has to do them to earn money and afford what he wants. He's always on the lookout for something new and interesting though-- something that wont bore him as he earns his pay.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
People-watching, or even network-watching, if he's stuck in his room and he doesn't feel like going outside. But he likes to soak up some sun as much as possible, so he goes out and has fun while he can. If there's rain, then he'll go out and walk in the rain.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He never, ever skips meals. He knows they're important to him, and he doesn't like the feeling of stomach pains. He'd pretty much eat anything, as long as he knows where it's come from, and what it's made of. If possible, he'd rather cook it himself.

Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:

1. Color? Grey, very appropriate to his character, but I tend to use colors that complement his eyes.
2. Smell? Sugar, of course.
3. Time of day? 10am. To the Japanese, to be told "good morning" during this time is an insult, so "good afternoon" is appropriate. It's like him-- call him the wrong name and he'll get annoyed. Plus, he usually wakes up at this time, if there's nothing to do.
4. Season? Spring. He awakened in it.
5. Book? He doesn't exactly read books too much. He simply scans them and puts them back where he found them.
6. Music? uh... fuck I don't know. He's not exactly musically inclined.
7. Place? On top of a building, where he's usually perched with a few birds for companions.
8. Substance? Blood, because... well... it refers to how much blood's been shed with him being "Kamui", and how much more will come.
9. Plant? Atropa belladonna, more commonly known as deadly nightshade and even devil's cherries. Attractive and even sweet, but dangerous all the same.
10. Animal? Dragon. If that doesn't count, cat.
