17 things I wish I could tell my 17 year old self

1. Don't just "accept" yourself as a BBW. You can lose weight and be healthier. Do it now.
2. Don't give up on spirituality. You will find something that fits you. And for Goddess' sake, don't go back to Christianity!!!
3. Don't give up on vegetarianism. It's a much healthier lifestyle. Say "no" to the meat-pushers.
4. Don't beg those dumb-fucks to be your friends. There are people out there who think you're an awesome person and would enjoy your company, even if they're in the minority. Seek them out.
5. Don't get into a LTR with the first guy who gives you a chance. He was a nice guy, but couldn't offer you anything you really wanted (marriage, family, or a stable career). You could have been having fun with people your own age, but you were tied down to an older man.
6. Somebody will love you someday. Be patient.
7. Enroll in the Honors Program in psychology at OU, instead of just the regular program, as it will help you get into a better graduate program.
8. Get help with your depression now, before it ruins your grades.
9. Get tested for diabetes.
10. Don't let your mom get you down. Don't bother with your dad. For most people, it's worthwhile to try to improve parental relationships, but in your unique case, ditch 'em as fast as you can. They never really loved you and will only hurt you more in the future.
11. Don't take out so many student loans. You will live past age 30.
12. Don't get so many credit cards. You will live past age 30.
13. Read more, while you're waiting for better friends to come along. Turn off that TV.
14. Keep that paper route until you graduate, as it helped you get exercise and sunshine. The fast food job just made you fat and depressed.
15. Ditch that friend Bryan, as he just brought you down and controlled you. This would become a pattern for you. Associate only with people who build you up, not tear you down.
16. Seek wisdom, perhaps a mentor.
17. I can't state this strongly enough - you are a much better person than you think you are. You've survived things most people couldn't imagine. You are kind, beautiful, honest, and free. Believe in yourself.
