So, I'm attempting to write poetry again. This is from a writing prompt exercise, instructing the writer to write about a job. I wrote about my last one.

If anyone wants to try this exercise and post it as a comment to this entry, feel free! :)

*******************

Dead Job

Type and enter,

Fill in the blanks,

Get in all the information,

Send in,

Deadline.

Email,

Communicate,

Get it done.

Keep everyone on task,

Informed,

Don’t let them fall behind,

Don’t let them fail.

Answer questions,

Always know the solution,

Always get it right,

Never get recognition.

Smile, and don’t cuss.

Don’t raise eyebrows

Or quiver with frustration.

Don’t show emotion,

Don’t raise your voice.

Insubordination can cost

More than a job.

Insubordination toward those

That are incompetent

Goes nowhere.

Grin through clenched teeth,

Type and enter,

Fill in the blanks,

Be professional.

Be professional.

Hand in your notice,

And try not to laugh

At the fear in their eyes

When they realize

They’ll be lost without you.
