Hey. Merry Christmas. Really.
I am both an Atheist who strongly believes in Darwinism and also someone who knows Christ's connection to Christmas is bunk. He was not even born in winter.
However, I love what the holiday season brings in the end. Beyond all the extortion, capitalism, drama, and stress.... it really does come out to be a positive. I have seen enough christmas movies to know there is actually some truth behind it. Though so many family occasions are forced it can strengthen invisible bonds. When you really need some help along the way, those threads of relations can come in handy. Gah, chessiness aside.... I love Christmas.
My family (of which is only my mothers, 2 sisters and brother) are coming over at 2pm for gifts and Xmas dunch/linner. I stayed up until 4pm last night finishing their stuff. I am excited for the first year not for the stuff I'll get, but for the stuff I give. My mother;'s OCD is vastly improving, our financial situation is not too bad, our kitten Timber is a joy everyday, and my new boyfriend Steve is making my very happy.
Please do something today even if you have no family. Go splurge on something. Get away from the computer now and grab a burger at anywhere that is open. Watch your favorite movie. Snuggle your favorite pet or partner. DO SOMETHING to make all the billions of dollars frittered away into the holiday worth it, PLEASE.
