this one's for kathie.
so the house is completely quiet with debora, thao, and thoa gone for their summer vacations. mum and curtis likes going out until late in the night as well. i am NOT usually scared to be in my room, studying, and eventually falling asleep. However...
SCENE: enclosed in my room, on my bed with the DAT books and references books opened, highlighters and different colored pens surrounding.
Alas, a gentle knock to the door.
Glancing at the time that read 11PM, I couldnt imagine visitors at this time. In fact, what sounded more probable was the sounds from my imagination.
The soft knock continued.
Mustering enough courage, I left my warm bed, to check the door. My heart went back to its normal beat when I saw Long's face. It was a call for a LATE workout. After giving myself a scare, I wasnt ready for his company to leave. I suggested for him to watch a movie that we had talked about; Pan's Labyrinth.
If you want your MIND at ease, it was TRULY the WRONG MOVIE to watch. It leaves a real dark, eerie, powerful feeling. We started a discussion about the imagination. From this topic, Long was reminded of a show he had recently seen.
A man who claims he is NOT psychic but has the power to read people's body language and in between lines of speech. From these elements, he can PREDICT what the others will do.
Long wanted to TRY out one of the tricks he's seen. Him and I were to stand back to back. He asked me to IMAGINE a movement while standing there with him.
"raising your arms," he said flatly.
"YES!!" I screamed with astonishment. capturing the excitement, I wanted to give it a go.
upon seconds of silence, I screamed, "PUNCH!"
Long and I immediately turned faces. WIth his eyes widening, "YEAH!"
Astonished by our newly discovered talent, we freaked each other out. And then we didnt want to play that game anymore. I didnt allow Long to go home after that.
He tried to reason with me, "well look- at least when you sleep you can just go in your room. I'm goign to have a faun waiting for me in the car."
My response, "HOW DO you know the faun WONT wait for me in MY ROOM!?"
THe very source that seeded the fear of our imagination, was also the solution:
We ended up watching comedy reruns on TV.
TIP #291: Laugh off your fears.
