Words just aren't there to express the space I feel left by the loss of Peter Steele. It's not like I ever met or knew the man, but he was such a sincere influence to me musically. Type O Negative has written some of the hands-down best music to do gothic, S&M burlesque belly dance to, ever. Period. One of my favorite songs (and I would list this is the theme music to the best sex scenes if my life was a movie) is still "Love You To Death." The absolute sincerity and hopelessness in his voice near the end of the song calls out to me. I still put my huge headphones on and crank the volume to 11 when I listen to this by myself.
So, yes- today the world is somehow different; almost weirdly brighter, without his dark presence.
My inner goth girl has truly died a little.
