my dog attacked a hedgehog!!!!!!!

my dog attacked a hedgehog i couldnt believe it. its the first time anything like that has happened with my dog out of the eight years we have had him. he was barking in our conservatory and he started barking so i had a look outside to see if i could see anything - which i couldnt - so my mum let him out while i watched him from the conservatory, so saw him manage to get something and i was like 'oh my god hes got something, hes got something' and i saw it started to run back into the garden more then it stopped and i was like 'oh no!' so me and my mum was searching for the keys to the convo and i saw christie (my dogs name) scratching it with his paws and i was screaming at the top of my lungs telling him to stop. so we finally got the door open and we found that it was a hedgehog i was in so much shock!! but it didnt have any scratches on it - it was just a ball of thorns. so we went back inside and went back out about half hour laterand it was gone so it must of been alright i g2g time for me bed
