*Slept in. I, along with my other student teacher friends, was lovin' the presidents today because that meant we didn't have school!
*Talked to the Block A kids about readers and writers workshop. Good times.
*Had lunch at Panera (yum!) with Karen. It was great to see her and catch up with her. Also talked with her about the possibility of moving into her extra bedroom after graduation. Turns out it wouldn't be that expensive. We'll see. Keepin' my options open. If I don't move in with her and end up moving somewhere that entails the need of a kitchen table, she's got me covered with the one that's currently hanging out in her garage.
*Ran some random errands. Nothing too exciting. Came back here, had dinner, then worked the desk.
*While I was working the desk, I apartment browsed online. I had the realization that I could get a small one bedroom apartment for not much more than it would cost to share a place with someone. So I'm keeping that possibility open too. Found some nice places that weren't too much, and even a few that were high $300s or low $400s, which isn't bad. We'll see where that goes. I'm having dinner with Jen on Thursday night to talk with her about the possibility of moving into her house after graduation, which she brought up when we were at NRC in November. That could potentially be lots of fun, and would be more space because she and her roomate have a house versus Karen's condo, which is basically an apartment that she owns. We'll see.
*Got to talk to Nik tonight, which was great. He's leaving in the morning for basic training, so other than letters, I'll have no way to communicate with him for the next six weeks or so. That's gonna be rough. It'll be weird going home and not stopping by to see him and hanging out, not getting emails from him, no instant messages. Knowing that I can't just pick up the phone and call him when something really good or something really bad happens is weird. He's one of the best friends that I have, and we've both seen each other through a ton over the past almost eight years. I know that he's gonna do great and that this is something that he's wanted to do for a while, I'm just going to miss him a lot. But he promised he'd write, and once he gets out of basic and into tech school he'll have his cell phone and email access. It's really starting to sink in, though, that we're all moving into that next phase in life. When I go back to Louisville, Nik won't be there. I'm looking at places here in Indy because I know I'm staying here after graduation. Times change so quickly and it's hard to believe that we've come so far in the time we've known each other. Plus I just hate the whole goodbye thing. I know that we'll always be friends and that we'll keep in touch and continue to be there for each other, but things just won't be the same after this. I'm happy for Nik, though, because he's pursuing something that he's wanted to do, and I know he'll do a great job.
That's about all I've got right now. I'm going to get some things together for school tomorrow and then head to bed. It may be a short week at school, but there's a ton of stuff going on this week and a lot going on outside of school. Plus, my goal is to get my resume completely finished by this weekend. I've been working on it for about a week, and it's almost there, but I'm ready to be done with it so that I can start applying for jobs. And that whole thesis thing really needs to be worked on, too.
Buenos noches, mis amigos...
