It's amazing how quickly this semester is flying by! I can't believe that it's almost March, and that I graduate in less than three months. Wow. Anyway, school is going great. Yesterday marked one week that I taught full time, and all in all things are going really well. The kids had an awesome week, and they continue to do things every day that amaze me. I wish I had been in kindergarten in a place like where I'm teaching now. The kids are just encouraged to think so much and are valued and are seen as very capable people. It's wonderful. I still really really want a job there. It would be a wonderful place to work.
I went home last weekend, which was nice. I got to spend some time with my family and see Mayra's new baby daughter, Madia. She's beautiful! I also got to go to a surprise party for Nik, and hang out with him and some other people for the night on Saturday. It was really good to get to see Nik and spend some time with him before he leaves on Tuesday. Last night I went to Kiln Creations with my unit and then drove up to Matthews after the unit program was over to celebrate Christina's birthday. It was great to see her and the house she and Jared bought, not to mention their adorable new puppy!
No big plans this weekend. I'm on duty, which means that I should be productive since I have to be in the building all weekend, but I know that in reality duty weekends are some of my lesat productive weekends. That's the case for most of us on duty weekends. I do need to work on my resume and try to finish getting that together, and I need to work on a couple things for centers at school next week. But thank goodness for a three day weekend, thanks to Presidents' Day! It'll be nice to have the day off on Monday. I'm having lunch with Karen, which will be great since I haven't seen or talked to her much lately because we've both been so busy.
Oh, and Wednesday after our first Current Issues class of the semester (that got out really early!) Kelli, Megan, Jesse, and I all went to Bazbeaux for dinner. I love that place! And the four of us had a really good time talking and laughing and of course consuming an entire pizza in the process. That really has got to be some of the best pizza that I've ever had.
I've had a cold for something ridiculous like two weeks. It's getting a bit annoying now that I can't breathe. I finally broke down on Thursday afternoon and went to the health center. Surprisingly enough, it was actually a decent visit and they gave me some medicine that seems to be helping at least a little bit.
Thursday evening I went to a dinner and workshop for people writing their senior thesis. I got to see Kristin, my roommate from freshman year, and I also realized how soon I have to have my thesis done. I feel okay with it though, since I realized on Thursday that there are some people who aren't even finished collecting their data yet and there are others who just started writing a few days before the workshop. At least my data collection is finished and I started writing a while ago, although I haven't done much with it lately. But the cool thing that I found out is that once my thesis is finished, it will be bound in a hard cover and kept in the library for others to reference and will be put in the library catalog and all that cool stuff. That's pretty neat.
That's about all I've got for right now. I probably should get off here and at least attempt to get some things done. I'm kind of tired, and despite my efforts to sleep in this morning after a late night last night, I was up relatively early (though I did sleep in compared to my normal wake up time). I may take a nap this afternoon. I heart naps. A lot.
