So I'm back at Butler for my last semester. Wow. I'm so glad to be back and see everyone. I was ready to come back, but I'm not quite ready to start the whole classes thing yet. My favorite times of the year are during training and at the end of the semester when everyone on staff gets to hang out and we don't all feel like we have a million other things that we should be doing. We had the kickoff of RA training tonight, and I realized how much I really enjoy being a part of ResLife. Fun people and fun times. Some changes to RA training this year, which should be fun. We're doing a service project on Thursday morning, and then on Friday evening we're having RA Olympics! The Schwitz is going to dominate, no doubt about that. It should be a really good time.
I'm all unpacked. I reorganized some stuff, and I'm just about ready to start second semester. Door decs are in progress. I had some quality hang out time tonight with some people on staff (even some ResCo people came over to hang out with us), and we start hardcore training tomorrow. At least winter training isn't as intense as fall training. And Jacki's back! They hired her to take Dave's place at Ross. She's not here yet, as they just made the offer to her today, but ResLife should be spiced up a bit when she gets here. Though that now means that all four buildings have female RLCs, which is interesting. I'm all for women getting leadership positions, but at the same time, I think it would be good to have at least one male RLC just to have that little bit different perspective and be around for the guys on staff. Oh well, should be a good last semester with ResLife nonetheless.
This morning I went to visit the classroom where I'm student teaching this semester. I'm so excited to be there. I love the school, I love the district, I love the age group, I love the way they approach things...all in all, it should be fabulous. And it's going to be so nice to be working with someone who I already know and have a good relationship with. I walked into Alyssa's room this morning, having not seen her since May of last year, and was greeted with a huge smile and a hug. Having that relationship and rapport going into the semester should put a whole new spin on things, and it's definitely a positive one. It should be an amazing last semester (and a semester that will hopefully end with me having a job in this district).
That's all for now. I'm gonna get some sleep because it'll be an early morning tomorrow (working out with some friends before breakfast before training...). Buenos noches mis amigos...
