It's almost over!

So it hit me today that this week is it. Today was my last Monday as a student teacher at Mohawk Trails. It's almost the end of the semester, and as much as I've been looking forward to this and as ready as I am for the semester to be over...I'm not so sure that I am. It really sunk in today that this week is all that I have left at my school with the students that I've spent the past four months getting to know and teaching and learning from. Granted, there have been (many) days when I didn't want to go back the next one. But there have been good days, too. And while last week may have been awful, today was amazing. I really started to realize how much I'm going to miss my students when I leave Mohawk. And while I am so excited to be moving on to kindergarten in Alyssa's room in Lawrence Township next semester, I'm going to miss my fifth graders that I have now. Several of them commented this morning that this was my last week, and that they don't want me to leave. I had one student ask if I could come back next semester, and when I told him that I had to move on and teach at another school, he asked if I would at least come back and visit them - a lot. I told him we'd have to see. I think it would be fun to go back and visit them next semester, especially knowing that I wouldn't have to prepare or do any of the teaching, but that I would simply be able to go in and enjoy being around them for a bit. We'll see. This semester has completely flown by, though. While parts of it have seemed incredibly long, all in all, it's gone by really quickly. Only one more semester to go, and I'm a college graduate! Wow! 5 months from tomorrow I will graduate from Butler and officially be in the real world. Hopefully I can get my life figured out before then. That whole finding a job thing scares me because the job market isn't the greatest right now for teachers, at least in this area. But hopefully coming from Butler and having had the opportunities and experiences that I've had, I'll be able to find a job in a school district that I want to work in. I have a mock interview tomorrow with the principal at Mohawk, so that'll be a great experience to see what an interview is like. It's nice that I know it's a mock interview, though I know that I need to do as well as I can, because I know that if I mess up, it's okay, and I'm going through the experience to learn so that come spring when I'm doing real interviews for jobs that I want, I know (somewhat) what I'm getting myself into. I think that's all for now, as I need to get some stuff ready for my mock interview tomorrow, as well as for some assignments that are due this week. Adios for now, mis amigos. Good luck on any finals you may have!
