Last night I went to the RBC Center with
cindrax and T and S. My second time,
cindrax 's first. I love that show. We were up in the 300's - the high seats. but that was cool too. I had a wicked view of the lighting set up - and could still see most of the stage. I was fascinated by the lights. (I like the pretty lights) Across the stage there were a series of square scaffolds 2 deep and 5 across. 10 independant squares, suspended on wires with lights on them. So during the show they moved. Their range of motion was fairly large. The wires allowed all sorts of tilting. Every other one up and the others down, making a huge arch, flexing like bird wings, all together in a large bar. Nifty! And of course this whoelset up was bathed in a variety of colors.
And of course pyrotechnics. who doesn't like concerts with huge gouts of flames? that change colors! or fireworks? Lasers sweeping through the stadium? Lights pulsing in time with the beat? Add in the wicked cool music, (electric violin ftw!) and it equals fabulous.
There were also the quieter songs. Where the singers voice rippled through you and left behind goosebumps on your skin, and I wanted to cry with wishing to make my voice do that. What must that be like to stand in a stadium as large as this one was and the know you are the only voice that people hear, and if fills the place and the crowd is waiting on every turn of phrase as it springs from your throat? Do people that sing that well sing around the house? as they garden? in line at the store?
My favorite part was the Keyboard duel. Where their two keyboardists play songlets at each other, competing back and forth - a variety of styles then combine to playing the same, as the rest of the orchestra sweeps in.
There is supposed to be a new CD coming out. I can't wait.
