You ever just LOSE something?

I was preparing to scan some art in- some that I actually intended to color- and I came across a picture that wasn't done yet, so I put it on the side.  After the scanning of the new art, I went to get the unfinished picture and put it back in my folder... it was GONE.  I put it on top of the bed and when I looked, GONE.  TOTALLY GONE.  I looked under the bed, under the dresser, inside drawers, bags, hampers- EVEN the freezer... GONE.  I can't find that picture for the life of me.  I'm so pissed because I'd made major headway on it and now my muse (lazy bitch) has abandoned me and I don't even have it in me to redraw it.  This blows.  *sigh*  
Sometimes it seems like this just happens to me, so I was wondering, does it happen to anyone else?
