And Summer Abounding in all Glory

I walked by a black igloo and giant raven this morning. It's not the medication talking. No, really I did. Yes, I am sick, I have a cold, but the mentioned pieces are part of an exhibit in artopolis which I walked through this morning on my way to work.

How do you catch a cold in such warm weather you may ask? I didn't catch it this weekend. I'm going to blame someone from last weekend, of which I have no name to give because I'm not entirely sure who gave me this flu/cold. All I do know is that I did not get to revel in the warm breezes that graced Chicago this weekend. I spent my time hidden away battling orcs (via warcraft) and my cold. At least there was an open window through which the gusts of wind accosted my stacks of papers, balled up tissues, tea, and knick-knacks.

I also began to finalize my plans, or put into place, plans of travel for August. My cousin is getting married and I will be traveling to this distant far off land. Only thing is the flight paths seem to leave me stranded in a near-east city for a inconsiderate amount of time. There seem to be connecting flights early in the morning that come close to the family hometown, but yet they miss the flight into the main city. So I'm at loss to find a decent flightplan to our family's little area of the world at the moment without having to spend money on a hotel or sit in the airport for 9 or less hours in the middle of the night. Each way I plan it I seem to be cutting it awful close to the wedding date on Saturday.

I look forward to my roadtrip with my Uncle and cousin to Rome during my stay-we'll be driving cross-country in that case, so no worries about plane flights. My uncle may surpise me with a place closer to rome, though I hope that I do get to see that wonderful monastary/cliffside retreat that I stayed at last time. It was a wonderful, hidden place overlooking a canyon with groves of olive trees and wandering grape vines under my window. It used to be a temple to Diana before it became a monastary to St. Michael. There's tons of caves in the canyon where the old monks used to hide themselves away, since they were hermits. It's quite beautiful there and nearby is a wonderful little town that should be having their city festival when we get there. Last time they had hours of fireworks that I was too exhausted to watch. I listened though. I enjoyed watching the sun set behind the aqueducts and through the church steeples on the other side of the canyon too. Such a peacful place away from the bustle of Rome.

To think I'll be there again!
