Who: Seed (1ikethewolf ) and Rahal (bluelamphinian ) When: erm, not sure? Where: The cafe Why: Randomness, and they decided to eat lunch together Status: On going
A smile suddenly blooms on Seed's face, if there is one thing that brings him joy above all else, it's to talk of Highland.
"Highland is beautiful", he starts, his voice leaving no doubt that he believes every word of it, "To me, at least, with her fields and her forests, her mountains and her coast... the winters are cold and the summers too short but I never minded. I miss her beautiful skies."
"And L'Renouille! What a city! The largest in the region, always bustling with merchants and artists and traders. It's the most beautiful place in the world", he concludes.
Hearing Seed wax so eloquently about Highland was... refreshing. All to often he spoke with politicians that had only their own power and advance in mind, rather than what was best for the people and the land. That a man in power, a general, had such love for his land was heartening, and brought a small smile to Rahal's face.
"It sounds like a beautiful country," Rahal nodded. "And I can tell you care very much for it. It's nice to see a general that loves their homeland so much."
"It's not exactly your fault," Rahal reasoned. "You were sucked through time and deposited several decades ahead. What happened after or what is recorded in the history books cannot be said to be your fault, not yet anyways."
"What are you, stupid?" Seed scrambled to his feet, the last few bits of his lunch forgotten, his face a thundercloud. "I was there. I was there and I couldn't stop it! I didn't act early enough! I didn't do what I should have! I won't lie to myself: I am partially responsible!"
With those words hanging in the air, he turned around and left in a huff.
Rahal winced at the yells, rising as Seed made off. He gathered the last of the man's lunch, wrapping it back up and hurrying after him, never one to leave a conversation on such a bade note.
"Hey, I'm sorry," he said, catching up to the other easily (he had dealt with huffs before, he knew their pace and how to catch up fairly quick). "I didn't mean to upset you. I was just trying to understand your position." He held out the last bits of the forgotten meal. "And you forgot your lunch."

"What has happened, has happened," he finally said. "You did all you could. There is no shame in that."

"I'm here and alive while my country is no more. That's shame enough for me."
