RAHAL-YUBER LOG

Log: Rahal and Yuber

Just some introductions, that turn into a civil conversation.

Note: This started with a semi-discussion of the 'curse of Budehuc', so that is where that first line is coming out of. XD

Yuber: ... I'm not quite sure. Something about behavior modifications....

Rahal: Behavior....? *that sparks something* Oh! Forgive my manners. I'm Commander Rahal. *bows*

Yuber: ... Yuber. *eyebrow raise* Commander? Another soldier?

Rahal: Yes. Commander of the Dragon Calvary of Falena. *salutes*

Yuber: *very much not planning to return the salute* ... There certainly are a lot of soldiers appearing all of a sudden. ... Are you with those Zexens that seem to be wandering about?

Rahal: Oh, no, I'm Falenian, and newly arrived. I barely know what a 'Zexen' is.

Yuber: Is that so? ... *smile* Well, you should be warned never to trust them. They're a rather greedy, shift lot.

Rahal: *nods* So I have become aware. Did you hear of the envoy that was caught as a thief? Most disreputable!
Rahal: So, you are not Zexen then, Lord Yuber?

Yuber: No, I can't say I am. I'd never resort to petty theivery. They seem to have absolutely no honor, and they seem to be everywhere.
Yuber: It's too bad a good deal of the knights roaming about here are Zexen. Claiming to provide 'security' at that. What a farse that is...

Rahal: Well, Sir Percival seems to do a fine job it, and I cannot say I know to many more, so I feel I should withhold my judgments. I have not seen you around, Lor Yuber. Do you live on the castle grounds as well?

Yuber: Yes, though I hardly spend time here. It's not a very pleasant atmosphere, to say the least.
Rahal: Oh? What makes you say that, Lord Yuber?

Yuber: *looks annoyed* Because the people here tend to be irritating and very loud... and nosier than they should be.

Rahal: *hasn't been here long enough to really see that* Oh, well, I have no right to question that, Lord Yuber. Have you been here long, though?

Yuber: *small sigh* Far longer than I'd like to have been. Who would think these people could make a single year seem to drag on for so long...
Yuber: *sudden piqued interest* ... This reminds me. What is it exactly that brings you here?

Rahal: To be honest, I have no earthly idea. I was just giving Miss Viki directions to the Sun Palace, when she sneezed... and Flail and I managed to end up in the courtyard fountain. *flushes at the memory. how embarassing!*

Yuber: ..... *has a 'I should have known' kind of expression* ...I see. Though that isn't how I was brought here, it seems that woman is the reason may people are here.

Rahal: Miss Viki is?
Rahal: Oh dear....

Yuber: Yes. If she weren't her, I would almost think she orchestrated this entire thing....

Rahal: *thinks on that* Yes, Miss Viki doesn't seem the type for... overly convoluted plans. But, you said you were not here by her... not quite design. How did you come here then, Lord Yuber?

Yuber: Someone called me here. I'm still not quite sure who... *looks away for a moment before looking back* ...But again those who the woman didn't bring here seem to suffer the same. They just feel a 'need' to come here. *small smile* Strange, don't you think?

Rahal: *ponders* Well, I must admit, that is most strange. I don't... this place makes me feel as if I should stay a bit longer, for some reason I can't explain. I should be home tending to my Commandership, but...

Yuber: But you feel a pull that makes you need to stay. *smiles* That's what makes this place... interesting.

Rahal: *smiles serenely back* Yes, I suppose that is what it is.
Rahal: So, Lord Yuber, might I inquire what it is you do here, then?

Yuber: *blank stare* ...What I do?

Rahal: From what I have seen, those that have been at this castle for some time have taken it upon themselves to... well, do something. *shrugs* I'm sorry if I like the vocabulary to present this properly. I just thought since you seem to have been here for some time, you made some sort of living here as well.

Yuber: No. *bluntly* I have no intentions of staying here, let alone actually live here among these things. Not that anything the people here do will matter in the end.

Rahal: But, you said you have been here for more than a year. Doesn't that indicate a wish to settle down? *confused now*

Yuber: Settle down? *gives a look like he thinks this one is an idiot*

Yuber: Is that what you're planning to do here? 'Settle down?' *actually looks irritated by this*

Rahal: *blinks, doesn't understand what he has done wrong* I do not know yet, Lord Yuber. Forgive me if I had offended you. I merely meant to say that since you have been here so long, I thought you would have made this a permanent residence, is all. From what I here, I have no choice but to do that, since there seems no way home for me or Flail.

Yuber: *really doesn't like this type of soldier, blasted knights* ... Truely amazing. A war could break out at any moment and people would rather think about this kind of garbage... *half grumbled*

Rahal: Do not misunderstand me. My first duty is that of a Dragon Knight. If called to battle, I shall go, and I truly do not wish to be away from my post for so long. But what can I do? I am no magicker, and no one has a way of getting me back to my time, Lord Yuber. Perhaps you have the answer I seek?

Yuber: ... Perhaps. *doesn't look interested in divulging though* Or perhaps not. If you focus your energy on pointless attachements to this place, I'm certain you'll never see your precious 'Falena' home again.

Rahal: *looks sad at that* No, I can't imagine....

Rahal: Lord Yuber... no, nevermind.

Yuber: .... *attention gained*

Rahal: Forget it, Lord Yuber. I shouldn't trouble you with it.

Yuber: If you were planning to ask me for a favor, you're right. Don't bother me with it.

Rahal: *smiles a bit shakily* Ah, then I won't. But, might you at least answer a question?

Yuber: What?

Rahal: Is there a place where I might find tactical maps and histories of the terrain? Should their be fighting, I would like to be prepared.

Yuber: ...This land was the center of a war... more than once, I believe. I'm certain they kept those documents in the castle records. Especially with a Silverberg walking about.

Rahal: *blinks* Silverberg?

Yuber: *smirks, actually finding the ignorance amusing* Just a family that like to play the role of strategist. They would be interested in keeping such things around.
Rahal: Oh, so, they are like Lady Merces?

Yuber: ... If this 'Lady Merces' is an overly ambitious strategist, then yes.

Rahal: *considers that for a moment* Hmm, certainly some of her strategies had me worried, but they worked in the end.
Rahal: *bows to Yuber* Thank you for the information, Lord Yuber.

Yuber: .... *just stares at him* ...Let me know if you find something interesting.

Rahal: Oh, of course. ..... What constitutes as 'interesting' to you, Lord Yuber?

Yuber: I suppose there isn't much interesting in the way of terrain, but if you're looking up histories of places or people, I suppose anything strikingly 'out of the ordinary.' Usually one would know it when they see it.

Rahal: Ah, yes, I see. I shall be sure to inform you if anything of the sort comes up, Lord Yuber.

yuber, rahal
