We're slowly beating the house into shape, working together for a while every morning. I am signed up for FlyLady again, and am using her missions/zone of the week as a guideline for what I tackle on any given day. The boy is a lot better at the decluttering side of things, and I am better at cleaning, so that's how we roughly divide it. This

I have drawings your sister did at 2. I have letters written to me by my sister when she was in Vietnam and then Hawaii. (We are talking 1960s here)
ALL of this your father insisted I keep. At least put it in a bin and sort it later. I have also a huge bin of Megan's masks and Bryer horses. Also your masks and every piece of pottery you made at CRMS and Chapel Hill.
All of which I know we treasured at the time and which looking at brings back memories. But at this point I think I need to apply your standard of organizing rather than storing. That means sorting and, yes, tossing.
Still, I vote that you keep the lovely fabrics. One day soon you will find a dressmaker who can make you pretty dresses of silk that you can throw on and wear to work or to go out. It's garb of a different sort.

I am sure papa has suggested (and if he hasn't, shame on him!) the idea of scanning much of the paper/drawings. The relatively small hassle of storing an external drive or DVD of my 18-month-old scribbles is probably worth the peace of mind that you didn't -really- get rid of them.
