when i first arrive i put my lunch in the mini fridge in the work room. then i go out to the desk. there are plenty of books to deal with because it's monday. i discharge a stack from the drop box. then i pull some carts around and start doing the double check in. i conduct this in call number order so that after double check it's easier to put them in proper sequence. it's hot in here. the air isn't on yet, thankfully, but windows in here don't open so it's very stuffy and warm and moist. probably not very good for the collection, but neither are the wooden shelves. i'm too warm to do anything else so i check my email. nothing. then i read my livejournal friends page. then i go about sorting the date due cards. i don't think anyone else does it anymore. on mondays there are always all the cards from the weekends. in the midst of it i am interrupted by a nun who wants to know why the abridged copy of david copperfield doesn't say it's abridged. i don't know. we ponder a bit and then decide to leave it alone. i return to the cards. a woman wants to pay a $30 fine with a $100 bill. that cannot happen here so i send her away. she will be back. i put all the cards in their little files. the files are amess. i reorganize some of them, but not all of them. if i wanted to i could, but i don't think i do. then i discharge some books from the box. they are all about swimming. a professor returns a video. someone picks up their ill articles. it was really quite for the first hour, expecially for a monday. now it's a bit more active, but there's less for me to do. lest i brood for an hour and a half about things i don't want to think about i will now pick up my book ... after taking care of this fine...
