Sorry if I've been distant lately people. It's been almost a month since I've started working and I still don't think I'm accustomed to the 8-5 + commute schedule yet. I should probably get back into exercising so that I can get a little more energy back, but that's hard to do when all you feel like doing when you get home is passing out on the couch while watching DVD's you borrowed from your parents (everyone does that, right?).
So, just a quick update for all of you out there who can't seem to reach me any more. My job is actually kind of nice, though a bit below my capabilities in a lot of ways. I'm a system tester on a project that's working with the Department of Child Support Services in California, in case you haven't heard or don't remember. I'm just hoping that my current position will help me learn the system in at an accelerated pace and get me in with the right people so that I can move out of testing before long. It's a little frustrating to have a coding background and not be able to use it. Everyone I meet there is great, though, and that honestly makes all the difference.
My social life is now completely dependent on people calling me and asking if I want to do something. Fortunately I have a lot of friends who are able to do such things, so I'm never festering in boredom during my free time. We went camping last weekend, which was a lot of fun (and maybe a little crazy). We learned several things, like never drive Mosquito Ridge Road at night, always hike with a buddy, and it's probably best to make arrangements as to who is bringing what food ahead of time. Seriously, 12 people and almost as many ice chests. Not kosher.
So that's me. Drop me an IM or an email if I haven't talked to you in a while. There's some catching up we need to do.
