You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This

I would have had this up last night if I hadn't had a flu shot and if the tree hadn't fallen on the electric line.  You're lucky I don't stop writing fanfic all together because I got fucking TERRIFIED last night.  Anyhow, her it is.

I've got a funny feeling
The moment that your lips touched mine
Something shot right through me
My heart skipped a beat in time

~*~

The stars in the sky looked like pinpricks in black velvet.  In the sea the cruise ship rocked gently in the waves.  Between the two on the deck of the ship two shadowy figures slipped away from the lights of the main deck to a dark corner.

There was a funny feeling somewhere in Siegfried’s chest, somewhere in the vicinity of his heart.  He had been down this road before with men as well as women, had even done these things before with Roy.  Yet he couldn’t - no, wouldn’t - give name to the feeling this child was provoking in him.  To stop the feeling - or to at least stop thinking about the feeling - Siegfried bent his head ever so slightly and touched his lips to Roy’s.  The feeling that had just lately been around his heart shot through his entire body and he gasped, his heart skipping a beat.

~*~

There’s a different feel about you tonight

It’s got me thinking lots of crazy things

I even think I saw a flash of light

It felt like electricity.

~*~

There was something different about Siegfried tonight.  Part of that difference was the way he had pulled Roy out of the party they were supposed to be serving at and into a darkened corner of the deck just to kiss him.  They never just kissed.  Ever.  Maybe just before or just after sex but this didn’t happen.  Exactly what the difference was, what had made Siegfried decide to come out here, Roy wasn’t sure.  Whatever it was, it had him thinking a lot of crazy things.  Like maybe their relationship was more than just sex.  Maybe Siegfried loved Roy the way Roy loved him.

When their lips met in a heated kiss Roy could have sworn he saw a flash of light behind his eyelids.  Something shot through him - a bolt of pure love so strong it felt like electricity.

You shouldn’t kiss me like this

Unless you mean it like that

Cause I’ll just close my eyes

And I won’t know where I’m at.

We’ll get lost on this dance floor

Spinning around

And around

And around

And around

He’s only fifteen, Siegfried thought.  He shouldn’t be able to kiss like this.   Shouldn’t be able to kiss me like this.  It almost seemed as if Roy were in - had some sort of feelings for Siegfried that went above and beyond what he should have felt.  He couldn’t, though.  Right?

Holding the brat close he closed his eyes.  Without having to look at Roy, having to think about him, Siegfried could hear faint strains of music coming from the grand ballroom.  For a moment he was able to forget that he was hiding in a dark corner of a cruise ship with a fifteen-year-old child in his arms.  For that moment they were only Siegfried and Roy.  No age differences, none of the rules of society.

“Roy,” Siegfried whispered, his eyes still closed.  “Dance with me.”

Siegfried could feel Roy nod and the entire world faded away as they spun around…

And around…

And around…

And around.

They’re all watching us now

They think we’re falling in love

They’d never believe we’re just friends

When you kiss me like this

I think you mean it like that

If you to baby kiss me again.

Roy looked up at the sky as he and Siegfried spun in circles on their own private dance floor.  The stars seemed to be watching the two of them.  We look like we’re falling in love, he thought.  “They’d never believe we’re just friends.”  With benefits.

“What?” Siegfried asked.

Roy hadn’t realized he’d spoken aloud.  “Nothing.”

Siegfried pressed his lips to Roy’s again and Roy could almost, almost believe the kiss meant something more.

“Kiss me again,” he whispered when it ended.

~*~

Everybody swears we make the perfect pair

But dancing is as far as it goes

Girl you’ve never moved me

Quite the way you moved me tonight

I just wanted you to know
I just wanted you to know

~*~

They were perfect together in every way.  Roy was the perfect person to build Siegfried up and Siegfried was able to bring Roy down without hurting him.  Even their bodies fit together, from the way they slept each night curled up together like kittens to the decidedly unkittenish activities that went on in the same bed.

But, Siegfried thought, that’s as far as it can go.  No matter that Roy made him think and feel things no one else did.  Especially tonight.

“Siggi?”

“Shh.”  There was another good example of Roy’s effect on him.  Roy was the only person Siegfried had ever let call him by that ridiculous nickname.

“I just wanted you to know…I just wanted you to know that…I love you.”

Roy kissed Siegfried again, just so he couldn’t reply.  He was afraid of hearing Siegfried’s response to his revelation.  Yet he anticipated it.  But he knew Siegfried couldn’t love him back, although his kisses clearly stated otherwise.

Roy let his eyes slip shut, imagining a perfect world.

A world where Siegfried loved him.

A world where society had no rules against this kind of thing.

A world where he could get lost on the dance floor in Siegfried’s arms, spinning around…

And around…

And around…

And around.

~*~

Beneath their audience of hundreds of millions of stars Siegfried kissed Roy again, thinking about those three little words.  This time, when the feeling shot through him he could - and did - put a name to it.

“Roy,” he said, “I think I love you too.”
