Oh man. Oh manI just got back from seeing A Single Man. Today was the last day they were showing it as a matinee and I decided to reward myself for getting a specific section of work done. And my god, I'm so glad I did

Becca I have been DYING to see this movie for MONTHS. It's not in a theatre really near to here and nobody wants to trek out to a far theatre to see it with me, and it's not up for download on the internet, so I WILL NEVER SEE IT. Ugh, I want to see Colin Firth's dong. I hope he wins an Oscar. :(
Also lol @ your audience. I remember when I went to see Brokeback Mountain it was all a bunch of old couples and I was like WHAAAAAAT?
Bran you have to see it somehow! It is the best movie I've seen in forever. Someone will upload it soon I am sure!
The audience was so funny. I mean, I figured it'd be that general type of person since I went at, like, lunchtime on a Thursday but it was still weird to see these old ladies hanging around. I know people are generally gay=ok in the UK anways, but it was still surprising! It's like when I saw Brokeback Mountain and there were this group of massive Rugby-player type dudes behind me and one was crying at the end as we were leaving.
It was adorable! His friends didn't mock him or anything and our group ended up walking out at the same time as him and his friends and I gave him a sympathetic smile and he sort of laughed and said "I'm glad guys don't wear mascara," because mine had run and he was just sort of really adorable.
I hope Tom Ford gets some amazing recognition for this. He did it all so cleverly- I'm overusing the word when I talk about this movie but I can't think of anything else that fits. He pulled all of the emotions out of me that I'm sure he intended to, with how he shot the film and the clever little tricks. And I didn't notice which is a big thing for me (I hate it when you're watching a movie and you pick up on those things immediately because I'm all 'stop trying to manipulate how I feel, director dude!) but this was just brilliant.
I'm actually really sad that I waited until the last matinee to go and see it. I want to watch it again, right now dammit!
Ugh, I just can't get over how beautiful it is! Stunning is a good word!
Awww, yay, I'm so glad you got to see it! I caught it a few weeks ago and I came away with my heart just so... full. Full of pain and love and just all kind of emotions that the film had inspired in me. It's absolutely a tremendous piece of filmmaking, and I give all the props in the world to Tom Ford for pulling it off. It's obviously he didn't get someone to let him make a movie just because he's famous - he genuinely wanted to say something, to show something, and he damn well did it.
Colin Firth was just breathtaking. The scene where he gets the phone call? I swear I didn't breathe for about five minutes. The way he slowly, agonizingly cracks and then crumbles is just... wow. So intimate and powerful.
The flashbacks with Colin and Matthew just made my heart sing. They were so natural and comfortable and just so clearly two people who loved each other wholly and truly. The scene on the couch made me smile so hard, and the scene where they met, where it was this instant magnetic thing. Just lovely

Oh god, the phonecall scene? Was just amazing. My heart was clenching in my chest something fierce and I think you really could feel everything he was feeling because it was all on his face.
And oh, when they met for the first time? My heaaaaaaaaart! All of their interactions together, really!
It was just so beautiful and I'm still all aflutter over it and just. Yeah. Wonderful movie.
I want to see this movie so bad, SO BAD BECCA. I just... the reactions it's been getting and the LOVE and the pain and yeah. I pretty much adore all the actors, Colin Firth, my heaaart! DO WANT.
Also, also! Breakfast at Tiffany's and operas! \o/ I admit, I bought Breakfast at Tiffany's for my mom and I think I ended up loving it more than her. Which probably has something to do with it being the first viewing for me, but oh. SO GOOD.
Paula, you have to see it! It's such an amazing movie. It will blow you away.
I didn't make it to Breakfast at Tiffany's which sucks, but I am definitely going to hit up the operas if I can. Breakfast at Tiffany's is such a great movie. I need to get the DVD so I can enjoy it from my own home.
